CHAPTER 1

It was little Nyla's turn at Daddy's house, and she was very I excited since she had not seen her dad in three days.

When little Nyla was two years old, her mom and dad decided to divorce. Almost instantly Nyla had two of everything-two rooms, two beds, two closets, and even two TVs. Although she had a lot of stuff, Nyla was sometimes sad about her living arrangements.

By age five, Nyla had grown used to the way things were, and now she was only sad sometimes. Most days she was very happy ... well, until that Saturday!

It was a crazy day. On this Saturday, Nyla was running after the dog in the backyard when —

BOOM —she fell. And boy did it hurt!

She started to cry and scream for someone to help her. Nyla's dad, hearing her cry, ran to the backyard to see what had happened.

"I want my mommy," cried Nyla. "I want Mommy right now!" she screamed.

"Well, honey, Mommy is not here right now, but I'm here to help you," Nyla's dad said.

"But Mommy always takes care of my boo-boos. How will you know what to do?" asked Nyla as she began to calm herself.

"Well, let's start with getting you into the house first so that we can take a look at that knee."
