Marian wants us to focus on love and peace and unity. In this world of challenges, division, and differences, there is one concept that unifies us: love. No matter what nationality or religious belief, parents love their children, children love their parents, people love each other, and love feels the same no matter where we live or what language we speak. This book gives children a very clear look at the ways that we might be differentour clothes, our nationality, and the color of our skin. But no matter these differences, love is the unifying factor, and each of us is responsible to bring this love and to share this love in the world.

About the Author

Author: Marian S. Taylor Marian S. Taylor, EdD, is a retired university professor. Her career began at the elementary level where she taught first grade and served as a reading specialist. She was director of the university laboratory school and a chairperson of a university department. She taught undergraduate and graduate classes while at the university and spent many years directing the program for the development of reading specialists. Marian has been very involved with her family and with church activities. She is the mother of three grown children and is very proud of her grandchildren. Other publications can be viewed at www.marianstaylor.com Illustrator: Amy Duarte Amy Duarte began her career as an artist working for Walt Disney Animation Studios. From there, she leapt into the world of visual effects and graphic arts on more than 30 feature films like Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds End, The Amazing Spiderman, Mr. and Mrs. Smith, etc. She was appointed as a lead artist for several major motion pictures, including Fantastic Four, where she advised and guided a team of artists on creating the special effects of Jessica Albas character (Sue Storm). Born in Jakarta, Indonesia, and raised in three different countries, Amy is fluent in six languages and an avid polo player. A young child explores love and faith in this picture book.

A child says, “I come to earth to fill many hearts with love.” The kid shares experiences of comfort and joy, especially from mom and dad. The child explains that people of all cultures participate in positive activities: “Some friends wear different kinds of clothes than I wear, / But they still play and pray.” And despite religious and cultural differences, everyone expresses love, especially toward family members. The youngster also emphasizes the diverse ways that people practice religion. (“Some cover their heads, some bow, and some kneel.”) But the child concludes that ultimately people are united and that “it’s about how we show love each moment of each day.” One of the final illustrations portrays a group of children of various ethnicities looking toward a vibrant blue sky. The book’s images depict followers of religions that include Islam and Orthodox Judaism. Some of the language features a Christian perspective (“For you Holy Spirit, shining down from above... / We feel your peace... / I know the Love of heaven”). Taylor’s upbeat message underscoring respect and unity is laudable and inspiring. Duarte’s bright and intricate illustrations are wonderful. The charming images depict people around the world with assorted skin colors. All ages are shown celebrating, eating, and enjoying time with family and friends. Many wear traditional or regional garments, such as wooden shoes.

An uplifting and beautifully illustrated celebration of cultural and religious similarities and differences.
