Chapter One

Wisdom

When it comes to wisdom, the Bible certainly leads the way. Wisdom will reveal itself more quickly to those who desire to move to a higher level of consciousness or simply for those people who desire success or to be better human beings. Wisdom is part of life's equation. To live without wisdom is to have a life not worth living.

The Bible clearly states that what we think about we will bring about. This was profoundly stated in Proverbs 23:7 (KJV), "As a man thinketh so is he." This in itself reveals that if we change our thoughts, we will eventually change our lives. Our present life circumstances could be the result of our thoughts. If we believe in the Bible, then the importance of the power of thoughts and words should be meaningful to us. The Bible often affirms the effect of positive thinking in our lives. If this was not of great essence, God (who inspired man to write the Bible) would not have stressed the importance of positive thoughts as stated in Philippians 4:8 (KJV), "Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things."

In the book of John 4:24 (KJV), it states, "God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth." The Bible states that when we worship God, we must worship Him in spirit and in truth. Many have various interpretations of this scripture. Therefore, let us think spiritually and practically to help grasp this meaning effectively. The most spiritual part of you is your mind and emotions. You cannot worship God without your mind. This satisfies the worship in spirit. The Bible again tells us that the Spirit of Truth is the Holy Spirit in John 16:13, which represent purity and holiness.

Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. (John 16:13 KJV)

So here we are with two main ideas: you must worship God with a clean mind, and you cannot worship God with hatred in your heart. The Bible states in John 4:23–24 (KJV) that Jesus in His teaching made it very clear that God seeks praise from only those who wish to worship Him in spirit and in truth.

23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.

24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. (John 4:23–24 KJV)

Absolutely and unequivocally, a clean mind is necessary to worship God. I feel very sorry for fellow Christians, other believers, and spiritual leaders who are double minded. They serve God with their words and not with their hearts or minds. Before Jesus stressed the importance of worshiping God with a clean mind, the Old Testament warned us many times. Jesus was truly a reminder and confirmation of that fact. It is also the Spirit of Truth, which is God's guiding spirit, that will teach us wisdom. If we are willing to obey, it will keep us from sinful thoughts and actions. This spirit also gives man knowledge for all technology. Yes, from the Spirit of God to the mind of man, you have access to technology. All truly belongs to God!

In Joshua 3:5, it was told to the children of Israel, "Sanctify your hearts and God will do great things among you." At the time, the Israelites wanted to hear from God; they wanted favor from God. They needed to come as close to the tabernacle as possible, but Moses and even Joshua made it very clear that cleansing was important. In Ephesians 5:14, it states, "Rise from your sleep and the blessings of Christ will shine on you." Surely, the Bible is not talking about physical sleep. When we are not living according to God's word, it's a form of sleep, because our spiritual bodies are not being used to bring glory and honor to God. In that light, we must rise from our sleep of deception! Rise from our sleep of unforgiveness, fornication, adultery, foolish talk, lust, and other negative behavior! When we are spiritually asleep, our spiritual bodies are at rest; when we think negatively, our minds are at rest from doing or magnetizing what is good into our lives. Further, when you are spiritually asleep in your sinful ways, how can you be used to do great things for God? Many people want God to use them to do great miracles, yet they are asleep in their sinful behavior.

We can also take a look at David's life. David knew the importance of maintaining a clean mind. Therefore, he wrote Psalm 51 asking God to create in him a clean heart. By now we know that David was not referring to his physical heart. He was talking to God about his spiritual heart—of course, his mind. When people of today sing the song "Come into my heart Lord Jesus," they still believe it's their physical heart. It held true then, and it holds true now that negative thinking destroys positive thinking, and positive thinking is the key to prosperous living. Use Psalms 51 and be willing to cleanse your mind now. This psalm can help you to rise from your sleep; therefore, God can help you to prosper . This psalm helps with confession, repentance, and contrition.

1 Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness: according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions.

2 Wash me throughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.

3 For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me.

4 Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done this evil in thy sight: that thou mightest be justified when thou speakest, and be clear when thou judgest.

5 Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.

6 Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward parts: and in the hidden part thou shalt make me to know wisdom.

7 Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.

8 Make me to hear joy and gladness; that the bones which thou hast broken may rejoice.

9 Hide thy face from my sins, and blot out all mine iniquities.

10 Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.

11 Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me.

12 Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.

13 Then will I teach transgressors thy ways; and sinners shall be converted unto thee.

14 Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God, thou God of my salvation: and my tongue shall sing aloud of thy righteousness.

15 O Lord, open thou my lips; and my mouth shall shew forth thy praise.

16 For thou desirest not sacrifice; else would I give it: thou delightest not in burnt offering.

17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.

18 Do good in thy good pleasure unto Zion: build thou the walls of Jerusalem.

19 Then shalt thou be pleased with the sacrifices of righteousness, with burnt offering and whole burnt offering: then shall they offer bullocks upon thine altar. (Psalm 51 KJV)

Regardless of how it is stated, the meaning remains the same. God wants us to be holy and think positively. The Creator desires us to use our minds to honor Him. Remember, your body is a temple for God. For your body to be used as a temple for God, you must practice purity in mind, body and spirit. A heart filled with envy and other negative emotions cannot bring glory and honor to God. If we believe everything belongs to God the Creator of all things, and as God's creation we are entrusted with the things we have, then we should include our speech, minds, thoughts, and time and accept that nothing truly belongs to mankind. Therefore, when it comes to even our thoughts, we should use it with care, knowing that our thoughts were entrusted to us. The ability to hear, the ability to walk, the ability to see—all these abilities were entrusted to us. We should be careful what we use our eyes to see, our ears to hear, our tongues to speak, and our minds to think. All these attributes are truly gifts from God entrusted to us for use on earth. The question remains: What are you doing with your God-given abilities?

What are you using your sense of hearing to hear? Your sense of hearing belongs to God; be careful what you listen to. Listening to gossip is offensive to God. When you talk too much, it is also offensive to God. There is confirmation in James 3:5–10 (KJV). Negative words carry a negative energy, and when you use your mouth to speak negative words, it can be described as deadly poison. Words have power; use them well.

5 Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth!

6 And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell.

7 For every kind of beasts, and of birds, and of serpents, and of things in the sea, is tamed, and hath been tamed of mankind:

8 But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.

9 Therewith bless we God, even the Father; and therewith curse we men, which are made after the similitude of God.

10 Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be. (James 3:5–10 KJV)

Again, what are you really doing with the mind God has entrusted to you? Be careful what you use God's precious mind to do. The main purpose of your mind is to honor God as stated in Matthew 6:33 (KJV), "seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." The book of Proverbs also points to this fact.

In the pages ahead, you will read about people in the Bible that proved when they changed their thoughts, they in turn changed their lives. You can do the same.

Read carefully about the lives of these people; notice what they did to bring changes in their lives at no financial cost. Help is awaiting you right now! Peace is awaiting you right now! Stand with wisdom as your guide and see the great fruits of your thoughts. Let wisdom be the foundation on which you must stand. When you start your life on the right track, you have a better chance to live in peace, health, and prosperity.

Food for thought: Never make a decision when you are angry, never make a decision when you are too excited, and certainly, always try to avoid hasty decisions. Think about every decision you have to make before saying yes or no. Sometimes simple, foolish, hasty decisions end up being future problems. Be wise in making decisions; this is also the essence of wisdom. Always remember to listen to that inner voice that comes from the Divine.

Chapter Two

Method of Success

Food for thought: Psalm 62:4 points to the effectiveness of negative thoughts. Meaning people will tell you one thing while they are thinking something different. While they bless you with their words, they simultaneously cancel that blessing with their thoughts of envy or deception for you. For this reason the saying, "you see a man's face but you don't see his heart" still holds true today. While destructive thoughts are more destructive than negative words, putting these two destructive forces together is similar to creating another form of the atom bomb.

In the book of Samuel, the story of Hannah truly proves that when you decide to change your negative thoughts to positive thoughts, you are on your way to victory over the obstacles in your life, whether seen or unseen. Unseen, meaning that there could be many hindrances in your way that you truly cannot see. For example, you cannot see people's thoughts, but their thoughts can reach you anywhere and anytime. Negative thoughts can cause you harm, and positive thoughts can be a blessing. In Hannah's case, her own negative thoughts kept her from accomplishing her dreams. You will be able to read the story of Hannah as we move further in this chapter.

Sometimes, like Hannah, you prevent your own blessing, while in other cases, people may have done evil (witchcraft, for example) to hinder you, but there is a solution to block evil forces. It is important to remember there is a positive energy (anointing) that goes forth to remove barriers when prayers are done by you or the saints. James 5:16(KJV) states, "The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much," which suggests that the prayer of the saints is very powerful. "One can fall a thousand, and two can fall ten thousand" (Deuteronomy 32:30). This signifies that the more righteous people who pray for you, the more you will see results. Sometimes you may need others to pray with you or for you. Jesus himself asked for His disciples to stay up and pray with Him, while He was facing a great obstacle.

38 Then saith he unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death: tarry ye here, and watch with me.

39 And he went a little farther, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt.

40 And he cometh unto the disciples, and findeth them asleep, and saith unto Peter, What, could ye not watch with me one hour?

41 Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.

42 He went away again the second time, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if this cup may not pass away from me, except I drink it, thy will be done.

43 And he came and found them asleep again: for their eyes were heavy.

44 And he left them, and went away again, and prayed the third time, saying the same words.

45 Then cometh he to his disciples, and saith unto them, Sleep on now, and take your rest: behold, the hour is at hand, and the Son of man is betrayed into the hands of sinners. (Matthew 26:38–45 KJV)

When you read the life of Hannah, you will notice that when the priest stood in agreement with her to have children, it was done in faith. The priest can be considered a saint. Faith is a natural attribute of a saint. This confirms again that when the saints begin to pray, the Lord shall have His way. Further, faith can move mountains. Hannah's life truly demonstrated faith.

Having faith helps you to stay focused on the things you wish to achieve, which are only in thoughts. We must always remember that thoughts are things waiting to appear. Faith helps to bring the unseen to be seen.

Jesus also reminds us to have faith. When He was healing the sick, Jesus sent unbelievers out of the room, because unbelieving thoughts carry negative energy of doubt.

23 And when Jesus came into the ruler's house, and saw the minstrels and the people making a noise,

24 He said unto them, Give place: for the maid is not dead, but sleepeth. And they laughed him to scorn.

25 But when the people were put forth, he went in, and took her by the hand, and the maid arose. (Matthew 9:23–25 KJV).

Since negative energy travels, having people weeping in His midst is no better than having a bomb explode in your house. Further, I have always stated that a bomb exploding in your home is more dangerous than having a bomb exploding outside your home, so why get up close and personal with negative people? Jesus knew the deadly effects of negative thoughts; therefore, He had to exercise wisdom when He was doing God's work. Likewise, we should exercise wisdom by trying our best to avoid negative thoughts of fear, jealousy, and other negative emotions. If the negative thoughts of someone can affect you, then what about your own negative thoughts? For this reason, Philippians 4:8 (KJV) tells us, "Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things."
