Works
Schopenhauer is one of the most prominent names in the world of philosophical thought. He, a representative of irrationalism, gravitated toward German romanticism, was fond of mysticism, he admired Kant's philosophy and the philosophical ideas of the East. In his office stood a bust of Kant and a bronze figure of the Buddha. He was close to the ideas of the Stoics - Epictetus, Ovid, Cicero, and the works of Hegel and Fichte he ruthlessly criticized. Schopenhauer's philosophy is the philosophy of a pessimist who regards the existing world as the "worst possible world", and human happiness is an illusion, in pursuit of which a person exerts all his strength, but, having achieved the desired, experiences only disappointment and boredom. "The world as will and representation" (1819) - the main work of the thinker, commenting and popularizing which the author was engaged all his life.
