Xoe (Xoe Meyers Young Adult Fantasy/Horror Series) by Sara C. Roethle

As children encounter higher levels of reading difficulty, it is vital that they not only follow along with the text, but also that they understand the meaning of what is being read. Comprehension is often very difficult for young readers, but practice is proven to develop it. Here to help your child with reading comprehension skills are almost one hundred pages of questions that accompany short stories of interest to readers in grades 1-6. Each book includes:

  • Practice with skills such as: who, what, when, where, why, and how; determining the sequence of events; identifying main ideas; and vocabulary analysis
  • Reading comprehension activities such as: fill in the blanks, multiple choice, crossword puzzles, and matching
  • Colorful art
  • Answer keys

About the Author

I was born and raised in Arizona. Still here, in case you were wondering. Besides writing, I'm currently working on a degree in English. When I'm not "working" either on my books or schoolwork, I like to practice yoga with extremely poor form, and paint things no one would ever want to hang in their home. Another current obsession is Final Fantasy: A Realm Reborn...taking up way too much of my time. I published my first novel, "Xoe" in 2009. Since then, I've added two more books to the series, "Accidental Ashes" and "Broken Beasts". I'm currently working on a book outside of my Xoe series. I'll hopefully get that sucker published by the end of summer.

I took a chance on a book without previous reviews, and it was definitely worth it! Funny, well written, with a strong female character it's easy to like. I'll definitely be reading the others in the series!

142 pgs. Was worth the read :) I'd read it again as well. I hope that there is a second one. I like the supernatural bent as well as the humor the author gives with her drama.

I picked this book up because I was looking for a free YA book on iBook for a long car trip. This book is very enjoyable and easy to read. But once I finished it and thought about it, it actually wasn't that good. Don't get me wrong, I love Xoe, she is great character. But all the characters expect her just were flat and undeveloped. Dan, I felt wasn't a good villain and annoyed me at times. Xoe's friends weren't really that memorable. Another thing that we needed more of was information on the magic world. I'm sure they will explain in the second book but still, the world building wasn't there. Also I felt the supernatural creatures weren't inventive (expect the demons). Werewolves, vampires, and etc. were the classic form, not really creative. I recommend this book for a quick read but it wasn't memorable

I love this story, only I read it already. I wonder if it was released previously under a different title, one I already bought.

Ahh the angst of teenagers and throw in a bunch of supernaturals and you have a great story. These kids are amazing! I love Zoe, Lucy and Allison. Max is a pleasant surprise and Jason, is a dream boat. I rated this story so highly for, 1) entertainment, 2) characters that pull you int the story, 3) no bad language, (pet peeve) or sex. As a great grandfather, I have to read young adult books to avoid the filth. They are usually well written and pretty clean. This one is one of the better one's and I will read the series. Great Work!

Likeable characters. There are a few errors but not enough that it's hard to follow.

Xoe Meyrs is a regular teenage girl, but not for long. Xoe's best friend gets scrached and turned into a werewolf, she finds out she's aparently not human, not to metion there's a rough werewolf out to kill her and her friends. Ordinary people turn out to be supernatual creatures, and Xoe finds herself in love with a vampire. Can her love for her friends and family help get rid of the rough werewolf ounce and for all, does she finally let herself get convinced that she's in love with a ounce and for all. Find out and read this awesome book!- elesajammer224
