A treatise on revised Arabic writing
A Treatise on Revised Arabic Writing is a work that highlights the development of Arabic writing from its beginnings as a spoken language to what it is today. Anastas Marie Al-Karmali presents a comprehensive vision of the history of Arabic writing, reviewing the stages it passed through and its development thanks to the urgent need to write down sciences and religious texts. The book discusses improvements to the type, such as the addition of periods and strokes, but also points out the need for further reforms. The author calls for the introduction of new symbols and freedom from the restrictions of grammatical marks, which reflects his vision of the Arabic language as a living tool in need of continuous development.
