Overview

Beautiful California coed Amber Bright decides to spend the summer in Wisconsin with college roommate Julie Dooley. At the Dooley's Resort on Silver Creek Lake, Amber learns an updated and edgier version of the card game Canasta called Hand & Foot.

Every year, the resort hosts a Hand & Foot tournament and Amber desperately wants to win, mostly to defeat Rose, the reigning champion. However, to beat Rose, Amber needs the help of Catherine, a former champion.

The sequences of Amber being coached by Catherine and Amber facing off against Rose in the tournament comically recall "Rocky" and "The Karate Kid," but at a card table.

About the Author

A retired employee of the Federal Government, Harry Wastrack has two passions -- writing and playing cards. He is the author of "The Essential Hand & Foot," which explains the rules of an updated and edgier version of the card game Canasta, and the president of 52 Plus Joker, the American Playing Card Collector's Club. Mr. Wastrack also loves to tell stories and occasionally commit those stories to paper. In addition to "Hand & Foot Summer," Mr. Wastrack has written the enigmatic stage play "The Back Room."
