Justice for Mickie by Susan Stoker

For Cruz Livingston, becoming an FBI agent is a lifelong dream, guarding the streets of San Antonio a calling. His latest assignment--infiltrating the Red Brothers Motorcycle Club--will help stem the flow of illegal drugs brought into the city by the violent gang. He expects the job to be dangerous. He doesn't expect to meet the woman of his dreams while undercover.

Mickie Kaiser is refreshingly sweet, but her sister is intimately involved with the RBMC's president. Cruz can't afford to come clean about his double life without putting his operation in danger, but as violence creeps ever closer to Mickie, his priority becomes crystal clear. Cruz will do anything to keep Mickie alive...even if it means losing her love.

** Justice for Mickie is the 2nd book in the Badge of Honor: Texas Heroes series. Each book is a stand-alone, with no cliffhanger endings.

Another hit for Susan Stoker! A must read...highly recommend. JR

I would have rated this one higher but the female lead was so stupid that I can't give more than 3 stars. Never giving up on a family member is one thing but to go to such lengths to convince her was ridiculous. I don't like spoilers so I'll leave it at that. It seems a trademark of Ms. Stoker that her male leads "fall for" a female at first glance/conversation so that part of the story goes with the author. All in all the first book and the third book in this series were better.

What can I say except that this was another one of the best series I have read. Susan Stoker is now one of my favorite authors. I will be reading all of her work. I am in waiting mode because I have read all that has been published. mjw

*4.5 stars* Intense, emotional and oh so good…. “That sarcastic tone conveys a hint of snark with a bit of sassy thrown in for good measure.” And that sets the tone for the second outing in the Texas Heroes series. This can be read as a standalone but if you haven’t read Dax and Mackenzie’s story you are missing out. This is Cruz and Mickie’s chance at love and they make the most of it! Cruz Livingston is undercover in a local MC and the last thing he expected, or wanted, was to meet the love of his life. It’s not exactly endearing when you lie to her from the start – and keep on lying… Mickie Kaiser on the other hand is busy trying to talk her sister out of the world of that same MC. I have to hand it to Mickie, given the way she is treated by her sister, the efforts she goes to help is a showcase for “family”. Cruz and Mickie have very different agendas that provide suspense and tension to every interaction the two have. The irony is not lost on me. Cruz is living the “criminal life” while trying to keep Mickie from being a part of it while Mickie is doing everything to keep her sister from the same. That doesn’t work well on either front unfortunately. There is dark to this outing for sure but the persistence of love and romance is felt throughout. The physical attraction is there from the start and as the two get to know each other their relationship gets more intense, more serious and definitely much more complicated. I love this author’s writing style as there is a clear storyline but the twists and surprises that come are never predictable. This is a tough and deadly world Cruz and Mickie are playing in and the stakes are high. The intensity of some of the scenes were “stomach in the throat” with the emotions off the scale. Intoxicating! **Reviewed for Give Me Books**

Cruz is undercover in a MC, trying to find the top drug runners. While undercover he meets Mickey, the sister to the MC President’s girlfriend. From the moment he sees her, he can’t help but want to know everything about her and to protect her. The problem is, will she forgive him when she finds out who he really is. This book had me really blown away. Being one of those that are iffy about MC books, I thought the author did an excellent job of writing about one and having it include everything I don’t want to read about in an MC book and trying to show them more realistically. She was still able to make sure Cruz was as heroic as he could be in that kind of situation. There were definitely some twists I didn’t see coming. The only thing that bothered me was such a nasty person (Mickey’s sister) having the same name as me. I loved the book and highly recommend. **I received an ARC of this story in exchange for an honest review

AMAZING read.... So having read book 1 in this series, I started this book with the knowledge that Susan was going to send me on something emotional, painful... all those good things that usually draw you in when reading. Boy did I get what I expected & more! I was instantly drawn into this book, from start to finish I was lost, I couldn't escape, I needed to know what was going to happen & how. Cruz is undercover, he has a plan set in motion, but the plan never involved meeting the women of his dreams... especially when he's surrounded by one of the worst MC's known in the city. Mickie is just trying to look out for her younger sister, trying to keep her safe, but when her sister is dating a MC president, all her radars go beserk. Mickie's only joy during this time happens when she's around Cruz.... I loved how Cruz & Mickie start out slowly, communicating via text, then the odd lunch date... soon becoming friends during Cruz's time undercover. I loved how the characters were in their 30's, they have histories that are sometimes unthinkable, but they are moving forward. We also get to catch up with the characters from book 1 (Justice for Mackenzie), I love when authors do this. I LOVED everything! 'Justice for Mickie" is the second book in Susan's AMAZING new series "Badge of Honor: Texas Heroes", I'm blown away with what I read & can not wait to see what comes next for the series.

I loved this book! If you like strong romantic suspense, you have found it in this book. Cruz goes undercover in a motorcycle club (gang), but not the pretty cleaned up version popular in novels. The MC he infiltrates is felonious, cruel, and misogynistic. While undercover for months in this toxic setting, Cruz struggles to hold onto his own humanity and self respect. He meets Mickie during this time and tries to keep his real self separate from his undercover self despite meeting Mickie because of his undercover work. This is book 2 in the Badge of Honor series, but is a stand alone novel. However, if you are a fan of the author, you will notice characters from her other novels make an appearance in this one - including a mention of a character from the Protecting series. This one is a must read for fans of the genre.

Let me start by saying if you are a Susan Stoker fan then you will see from the beginning that this book is different from her usual book….. but oh so good!!! This book has it all! A super sexy hero, Cruz. A strong and sweet heroine, Mickie. Even some ditzy girls and super slimy creepy bad guys. Twist and turns that have you biting your nails. To super-hot and sexy scenes ;)

First I have to say that I love, love Susan Stoker's books. I did enjoy this one but it isn't my favorite. I think I was a little put off by the gratuitous violence surrounding the biker club. While I believe they are reflected pretty accurately, I didn't enjoy those characters. And I did not care for Angel. Her obvious cluelessness along with the fact that Mickie gave her opportunity after opportunity even when Angel ripped her apart bothered me. I really did like Cruz and of course the supporting characters in the series. This wasn't my favorite but I can't wait for the next one all the same. If you enjoy Susan's works you need to read this and if you enjoy MC books you'll probably love it. I received an ARC of this book from the author in exchange for my honest review. All words and thoughts here are entirely my own.

It goes without saying that I am a huge Susan Stoker fan, she is an automatic one click author for me. I fell in love with her books from the first one I read. So to say this is her best book yet is saying a lot! Justice for Mickie was more gritty, sexy and darker than her previous books but it totally works for this book and I loved it! There was suspense, action, romance and super hot sexy times! I laughed and I cried for Mickie and Cruz hoping they would get their HEA because Cruz being undercover and meeting Mickie the way he did was a recipe for disaster. Cruz was so sweet and sexy just like all the men in Susan's books and you can't help but fall in love with him even if he is keeping stuff from Mickie. There are a lot of twists and turns and things you don't see coming and I couldn't put the book down! Justice for Mickie was a definite 5 star read for me, it will go in my reread folder and I will enjoy it over and over again just like I do with all of Susan Stoker's books! Bottom line, I LOVED this book and can't wait for the next in the series!

Cruz is undercover within an MC as Smoke. So far he's managed to stay out of the murkier dealings of the club whilst amassing information to put them away for a very long time!!! But when the Presidents latest squeeze has a nosy older sister making waves, Smoke is sent to try and distract her. But he's the one who ends up distracted. Mickie is most definitely not like her sister. She is a straight arrow and can't believe the lifestyle her sister is slipping into. Angel thinks she's Ransom's girlfriend. But Mickie can see he is just using her to get his hooks into her rich friends but Angel just thinks she's jealous. But Cruz meets Mickie and decides to try and keep her away from the MC if he can, without blowing his cover. He can keep an eye on Angel for her and get the bad guy...right? But when the truth comes crashing down will Mickie see past Cruz's lies, even though they were always wrapped in a kernel of truth? Will she be able to save Angel from herself and Ransom? I'm not a lover of MC books but that is really just the vehicle of the romance/suspense. The MC Has been infiltrated and is being taken down rather than having the lifestyle glorified. You can feel for poor Cruz/Smoke. He's walking a fine line between reality and his undercover persona and is burning the candle at both ends! I loved the way Susan handles the MC story without making it out to be a glamorous life and giving the real gritty reality. The characters are complex, emotive and infuriating!!! Angel is a handful and you must know that there is trouble ahead. There is tragedy and laughter and love and danger, a great mix to keep everyone happy!!! I loved the sneaky peak at book three's couple!! Now I need more!!!!

Was gifted an Arc for an honest review This book was amazing but very hard to read as it was so real life. The author does a wonderful job of being real to life on what she writes and doesn't glorify a tough subject. This was one of those books that took me a while to finish as I had to take breaks when it got too hard but I'm so glad I was given the apporturnity to read this story as it was simply outstanding

Ms. Stoker takes the reader on to the dark side. No flowers, no white knight in shiny armor (yet) but Cruz owns this, he has to his life as an undercover depends upon it. But what happens when you get to deep who's going to save you? Mickie is trying to help her sister Angel from Ransom, the president of Red Brothers, but Ransom is not happy with someone messing with his property. Cruz has to somehow, without blowing his cover, step in to keep Mickie safe. But really it's the other way around and Mickie is the one doing the saving. If you like your stories rough, a little dark but with the light breaking thru for the MC's, pick this book up. Was gifted this ARC for a honest review by the author
