About the Author

Tammarra Forbes is currently pursuing a M.S in Education, specializing in Children’s Literature and Reading. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education. She is popularly known as a “Teacher Cheerleader” in the teaching profession within the Turks&Caicos Islands. Tammarra is also a Teacher Resource Specialist, Professional Teacher Leadership Development Planner, and Motivational Conference Speaker. Tammarra believes that teaching should be meaningful, fun, and exciting for teachers as well as students. She also believes that each student should be equally presented with the opportunity to discover and develop the gift of reading. She also believes that it is critical for children to be able to see themselves in stories in their own cultural context. In 2008 she became Turks&Caicos first graduate from the Moody Bible Institute of Chicago, Illinois, earning a Bachelors of Arts in Elementary Education and Theological Studies, and is currently serving as an Elementary school teacher in the Public Schools of the Turks&Caicos Islands. Tammarra enjoys collecting children’s literature, and volunteering in elementary classrooms. She is a conscientious collector of teaching aids, resources and teacher materials. She is involved with educational recycling programs with other teaching professionals, between the United States and the Turks&Caicos Islands. In her spare time Tammarra writes and illustrates Children’s Literature in the context of her native country by capturing and cultivating the culture of the beautiful people and children of the exquisite Caribbean islands of Turks&Caicos.
