We’ve said it hundreds of times—you soap fans are awesome! The loyalty
and support you’ve shown us through the years sometimes takes us by
surprise and is quite humbling. Now we’d like to give a little something
back. The idea for Soap Dishes: The Cookb ook came about
rather naturally. Derk loves to cook and we both love to eat. Surprised?
No really, we realized there is an amazing connection between soaps
and food. Food has the power to elicit the same emotional responses as
watching a good show or soap opera: lust and longing, hunger, joy, and
plenty of pleasure and satisfaction. Food becomes an expression of us,
much like the characters we watch become a part of our lives.
Very few things provoke true passion like a well-crafted meal. Love and
food are both universal languages. E njoy!
SOAP DISHE S: THE COO KBOO K is a marriage of these two worlds.
The brightest stars of daytime share their favorite family recipes—and
an anecdote or two—with their fans, providing an intimate glimpse into
their lives. At the same time, we ’re helping out an extremely worthy cause,
The Desi Geestman Foundation. The Foundation provides financial and
emotional support to young cancer victims and their families.
We invite our fans to cook dinner alongside their favorite daytime stars
as they share stories that evoke the sights, sounds, and smells of their
childhood kitchens, or of romantic dinners prepared for their real-life
loves.
Combining personal photographs and engaging text with unique and
delicious recipes, SOAP DISHES is not just a cookbook. It’s also an
intimate peek behind the curtains and into the lives and kitchens of
daytime’s hottest stars and legends alike.
