Overview

The Mission follows a group of mercenaries who believed they were taking a dying scientist to the planet Valdorion in search of a cure. Under advisement from Senator Tyrell and against his better judgment, the commander of the Undead agrees to take the youngest member of his mercenaries on the mission to the distant world. Mack gives fourteen year old Darkblood the task of protecting and transporting Victor Magnus, a scientist who is dying as a result of an accident in his lab. It is only when they reach Valdorion, the planet's only city, that Darkblood discovers the dark truth behind their mission.

About the Author

William Talcott, or Bill as he prefers to be called, was born in South Bend, Indiana. He and his wife of 29 years reside across the state line in Niles, Michigan, approximately 50 miles east of Lake Michigan. He and his lovely wife have three children of which two are married. Recently, their daughter and her husband gave them a beautiful granddaughter.

Bill spends his mornings before work either writing or desperately trying to clean up something he has written. He works in South Bend, Indiana for an organization that takes care of the developmentally challenged. He has written two stories, one of which has been published as an e-book titled 'Remnants of the Past'. The other story, 'They were Gods', is actually one that he wrote years ago and when he is done editing that story, he hopes to make it available as an E-Book as well. With notes and outlines for many other stories, Bill has plenty to keep himself busy with and hopes to be entertaining his readers for sometime to come.

Couldn't put this one down once I started! I can see this one being the first of many books. Whether its more sequels or other stories involving the characters we get to know in the authors universe, I want to read more. Pick this one up if your a fan of sci-fi, or if you just really enjoy a good story with some thoughtful twists and interesting characters. One of the things I appreciated most about this story was how attached I got to the characters and how surprised I was by their outcomes. Gr

Tek Cycle

Set in a beautiful world similar to ours, the language making it easy to envision the surroundings and the people. The interactions of the different characters clearly defines each of them – and they are all clearly different. Mostly through dialogue, the characters come to life, encouraging the reader to feel right along with them. The tough decisions made and the depth of emotion shown add to the complexity of Darkblood et al, making them very “real” and relatable.

Adventure, love, anguish, loss, hope, and a little comedy help to create a world in which the characters, even for the time spent with them, are alive.

The mystery of The Mission unfolds before you with the help of some flashbacks. It is a lot deeper than you'll think at first and as it goes on, the appreciation for the story grows. The pacing will keep you reading each passing page in anticipation for what's coming next.

The author uses a rare skill to begin a story part way through and then effectively communicate prior events that led to where we are. There is good resolution,and it is a complete story, but the author has allowed room to continue if desired. Character complexity has been attempted, and succeeds for the most part. There is room to improve this aspect, and is the only reason it is not 5 star. That being said, it is definitely worth the read.

I really enjoyed this book. I am looking forward to more by this author. He kept the suspense going, and the pieces didn't start to fall into place until well into the book. I highly recommend this book.
