I have a hard back copy of this book. I enjoyed it for one reason - it is based on a true story of two of my ancestors. William Overton was the son of General Robert Overton who had been exiled by the King. William was Protestant and had fallen in love with Elizabeth Waters, who was Catholic. William came to Jamestown in search of his father. Tradition says that he sent tobacco back to England to pay Elizabeth's passage. Her maid's brother got her aboard a ship headed to Virginia. William rowed out to the ship when she arrived and they were married aboard. The book was first published in 1899 and was reprinted in 1953. I have a copy of the reprint. I may have to reread it.
