Neverseen, Book Four in the Keeper of the Lost Cities Series, is Finally Here!

The first book in the series, Keeper of the Lost Cities, introduces us to Sophie Foster, a strong twelve year old who has never quite fit in, something most girls can relate to at that age. She’s so smart that she’s skipped a few grades, and not only do the older kids at school not get her, but neither does her very ordinary family. How does she know? Well, it turns out Sophie’s been telepathic since she was 5. One day on a field trip to a museum, Sophie meets Fitz, a handsome boy who is also a telepath, and who lets her in on a big secret. She’s not human, but an elf who’s been hidden in the human world. When she’s whisked away to the elf world of the lost cities, she tries to understand who she is, all while dodging abductors and the usual middle school social pitfalls. Friendship, family, and doing the right thing all guide and shape Sophie as she and her friends try to figure out the mystery of her origins.

The second installment, Exile, finds Sophie hoping for a little peace and quiet in order to hang out with her new friends. But the mysterious Black Swan organization, which created Sophie and her special powers by engineering her DNA, has other plans for our brave protagonist. Sophie discovers a female alicorn, a magical winged horse akin to a unicorn, who talks telepathically with her and trusts only her. On the social front, Sophie is forced to wear an awful costume during the school’s opening ceremonies, and she worries about her adoptive parents back in the human world, who are still mourning her death. When a telepathic mission goes awry and destroys the mind of her beloved mentor, Sophie and her friends struggle to bring him back. With all that action, there are many issues left unresolved for our heroine to tackle in the next volume.

Sophie is ready for action again in Everblaze, the third installment in the Keeper of the Lost Cities series. This fast-moving fantasy adventure will especially appeal to tween girls, thanks to our now 13-year-old heroine. This time around she still has to save the world, protect her loved ones and also deal with mean girls at school. Sophie is still trying to find out more about the mysterious Black Swan organization, even as she struggles to come to terms with her new live—and why she was engineered the way she was. Sophie’s independent spirit, strong principles and longings to belong will appeal to middle graders and parents alike.

In the fourth installment, Neverseen, the magic continues. Sophie is still trying to navigate the complexities of middle school while also saving the elf world and possibly the human world, too. She has friends now who all have their own special powers and unique qualities. In Neverseen, Sophie and her cronies are banished from the elf city, being pursued by rebels, and trying to decide whether to trust the Black Swan. This page-turner has elf magic, winged horses, deadly plagues, deceit, treachery, and middle school trauma. Sophie and her pals are on a quest to save themselves and their loved ones not only from evil but sometimes their own questionable decisions. And this hefty volume, at 672 pages, leaves you wanting more and excited for the next one, which no doubt is already in the works!
