Whom do we contact to find out more information on a Barnes & Noble Bookfair?

Can any school or organization plan a Book fair?

Barnes & Noble partners with pre K– 12 schools and non-profit arts and literacy organizations each year to host book fairs, encourage literacy, and raise money to support their programs.

Do we always need to reserve a date 8 weeks in advance?

A Barnes & Noble representative works with you and your organization to help you plan and communicate your book fair to your supporters. We have found that eight weeks allows for building awareness of your book fair among your supporters, scheduling all of the great events, and getting everyone excited about attending.

When is the best time to do a book fair?

Barnes & Noble schedules bookfairs year-round to accommodate your needs. Remember, our book fairs are customized to focus on you, so whether you want to schedule a book fair to support your summer reading program or to welcome students back to school, we are available for you.

Do you hold the book fair in our school?

A Barnes & Noble Bookfair is held in our stores, offering your supporters our vast selection of books, CDs, DVDs, gifts and other items, making it easy and rewarding for everyone to find something they love. Your supporters can also shop online at bn.com/bookfairs as part of your book fair.

Is every item in store and online eligible to count as a book fair sale?

Almost everything in our store and online is an eligible book fair purchase.

The following transactions are not included in the in-store Bookfair totals:
  • The purchase of gift cards
  • Shipping or handling fees; or Barnes & Noble Membership fees (new or renewal)
  • The purchase of text books, magazine subscriptions, video games, software and digital devices including NOOK and other ereaders, other hardware and accessories*.
  • Purchases made at Cafes owned and operated by Starbucks
  • Other items Barnes & Noble may exclude from time to time in its sole discretion

*The purchase of NOOK eReaders and accessories are eligible Bookfair purchases, but will not be included as part of the overall in-store Bookfair total.

The following products and services are not included in the online Bookfair totals:
  • The purchase of gift cards and online gift certificates
  • Digital content (including but not limited to digital books, magazines, and periodicals)
  • Downloadable Audiobooks in MP3 or any other format
  • Gift-wrapping fees; shipping or handling fees; or Barnes & Noble Membership fees (new or renewal)
  • The purchase of text books, used and out of print books, magazine and magazine subscriptions, video games, software and digital devices including NOOK and other ereaders, other hardware and accessories*.
  • Other items Barnes & Noble may exclude from time to time in its sole discretion

*The purchase of NOOK eReaders and accessories are eligible Bookfair purchases, but will not be included as part of the overall online Bookfair total.

Do you offer an online only book fair?

At this time, we offer online shopping in support of your in store book fair.

How do I ensure that my online purchase is credited to my book fair?

On the payment page for your online purchases, you will see a prompt "Check if this is a Bookfair Order". When you click on it, you will get a payment screen where you can enter your book fair ID number in the space provided. This book fair ID number is the same provided by your organization for in store shopping.

If you are signed into an existing account, from the Checkout screen, click on the Change button on the upper right of the Payment tab. This will bring you to the full payment page where you can enter your bookfair ID in the space at the bottom of the page.

How much work is involved?

We coordinate all of the in-store merchandising, accounting needs and other bookselling details. We will also offer event ideas and provide you with ideas for marketing your book fair to your supporters. Your key role is to plan the events and to publicize and promote the book fair to all of your supporters.
