Submitting Your Own Content

From time to time, B&N Studio accepts customer-generated video for publication on Barnes & Noble.com. These videos allow readers to share their passion for books, authors and literary topics through the B&N Studio library, where others can view, share and rate the submitted content. Customers who submit video to B&N.com must accept the Video Submission Terms of Use which are found on the Share Your Video page. They are also repeated below.

Creating Your Video
Producing high-quality video has never been easier. At B&N.com, we're looking for video that's relevant to books and reading, video that's informative, and most of all, video that's entertaining. Here are some tips:
  • Keep it short -- two minutes or less.
  • Give it a title and keep it focused. Don't try to do too much.
  • Shoot in good light and use a tripod to cut down on shakiness.
  • Don't use images, music, or other copyrighted content that doesn't belong to you.
Uploading Your Video
The uploading process is simple.
1) Fill out the Share Your Video form.
2) Use the "Browse" button on the form to find the video file on your computer.
3) Select a tile or thumbnail image (in the .jpg or .gif format) for your video, keeping it to 120 pixels wide by 90 pixels high.
4) Read and accept the Video Submission Terms of Use.
5) Select "Begin Upload" and wait for confirmation that your video has been received.
Please fill out all required fields and make sure your video meets the specifications noted below. Failure to meet these requirements may cause us to reject your video without notifying you. We'll review your video to make sure it meets our content standards. We'll usually be able to place it in the B&N Studio library within two business days. Videos that contain inappropriate content or fail to meet the Video Submission Terms of Use will not be accepted. Please remember that B&N.com is under no obligation to post your video and that it may be removed from the site at any time without notice.
Acceptable Formats
As noted on the Share Your Video form, customer-generated videos must be short -- two minutes or less -- and less than 1,000 MB. We can accept Windows Media (.wmv), Quicktime (.mov), AVI, or MPEG-2 files. For best results, please be sure your video is at least 400 pixels wide by 300 pixels high.
Legal Requirements
Customers who submit video must accept the Video Submission Terms of Use below.
