I've read Jennifer Ashley's Shifters Unbound series, and before that, her historicals. Then I decided to give her Ashley Gardner series a try on my new Nook. I'm hooked!! I ran straight through them all quickly and now have to (eagerly) wait for #8. Captain Lacey and his motley assortment of friends/cohorts are flawed characters, all of them, but they are all the more real and interesting and pull you into the story because of it. Each mystery takes you on a winding path through their lives. Each story could stand alone, but there is a progression in their lives throughout the series. Give them a try and you'll be glad you did.

Yes this is a great read. So how do I get "A Disappearance in Drury Lane #8? Is it in paperback or can I get it on Nook?

Captain Lacey is captivating. A complex character with shades of gray that make him more real and lovable. In each succeeding book you get to know him better. When will A Disappearance in Drury Lane be available? Waiting!

A Death in Norfolk is number 7 in the Captain Lacey mysteries. The Captain is a man of honor and very likeable. The characters are interesting and the mystery different with each book. I began with the first book The Hanover Square Affair and went on to read each one to number 7. I am now anxiously waiting for number 8.

I love the Captain Lacey series! The characters are well-developed and the stories are interesting and engaging. Highly recommend.

I haven't enjoyed a historical mystery series in a very long time as much as I enjoy this one. You can fall into reading this series anytime. There is always just enough background to ease you into the character's on going stories and not so much that those of us who have read them all feel like we are hearing too much background. I love all the characters and I am looking so forward to the next one!

I have to admit I am addicted to Captain Lacy mysteries. I was thrilled when A Death in Norfolk was published. I have read all of Ashley Gardner's Lacy series and love them. Her attention to detail and the fast pace of the story makes it difficult to put down. I also love the fact that it's the mystery that takes center stage and not heavy breathing and, as in some if not most novels of that era, page after page of the central characters in bedroom hijinks. I have read some books lately that took up an entire chapter on one kiss. Enough! Let's get on with the story. A Death in Norfolk gives us a look into Captain Lacey's childhood and those events that helped make him the man he is. I look forward to number 8.

I enjoyed this Capt. Lacey mystery and the preview chapter for the next in the series. I have read the other books in this series in order, and while you could read this as a stand alone book, I think you would enjoy it more if you did the same. It is interesting to watch the characters change, grow and adapt to situations and circumstances and you will find yourself considering whether your ethical and moral values would allow the same solutions .

I can't put these books down. This one is a little different in setting, characters start to do show different aspects that were only hinted at before, and some new characters that you love to hate. Lots of fun and as always a good read that I couldn't put down until I was done with the whole book.

The latest Captain Lacey mystery. I still love the series and am waiting for the next book to come out. Good as a stand-alone but better if you start this series from the beginning.
This is a very good character driven mystery set in England during the Regency period. Captain Lacey is a half-pay officer who meets and interacts with people from all backgrounds. In A Death in Norfolk he returns to his childhood home and encounters much more than he bargained for. It all starts when he delivers a letter for his nemesis Denis.

I am in love with Captain Lacey, he is nothing like the typical hero in other novels.

Overview
