Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Marilyn Meyerson
Students undertaking research about Albert Einstein will find the many features of this biography useful. It includes a table of contents, index, glossary and bibliography. But that is only the beginning. There is a timeline, brief blurbs about the main people in Einstein's life, a map of pre-World War II Europe, top ten things you should know and ten more things that are cool to know about Einstein. In page inserts, the author does her best to simplify Einstein's major theories and provide a brief history of physics. Norwich's text is informal and conversational. The book's introduction, "written" in the first person by Einstein, introduces his traits, values and renowned curiosity. The text is not subtle. Students will not need inferential skills to examine Einstein's actions and deeds to determine why he was admirable and successful. The text lays it all out. Photos of Einstein would be an improvement over the sepia drawings throughout the text. This biography is the second in the "I Am" series. Reviewer: Marilyn Meyerson
