The depth of feelings that was portrayed with the main characters kept me guessing and I did not want to put the book down.

Ended very sad but was a great read! Read in two days, with interruptions. Engaging. Looking forward to reading more from this author and hope there's a sequel! Can't go wrong with this free book!

This book was a pleasure from the first few paragraphs. Less predictable than imagined with a unique vampire character type. You'll find likeable characters with flawless writing that doesn't attempt to wow (bore?) the reader with seldom used, ill-fitting words. Well done, thank you!

Not at all what I expected. Throughout the entire storyline, I did not know what was giing to happen next. It kept me guessing until the end. It was a bit somber, but more so somberly victorious? Overall, it wasn't the now trending vampire read of a sex depraved main character who falls for a mind readinng vampire. I liked it, and I would read other works from this author.

Alone is a nice suspenseful book. I recommend this book highly though I wasn't pleased with the ending. It is a worthwhile book overall and a must read!

The realism of the violence in this book was disturbing - in a good way! It made me want to jump into the book and beat the main characters husband! Although it is a urban fantasy/romance, there was much about it that was very real and I read the book within a couple of sittings. Great novel.

I read Anne Rice and her vampires of New Orleans and then Twilight and was so disappointed at the wishy washy characters of Twilight and then I read Alone and was not disappointed. The characters and plot had real depth and didn´t just cover the usual swooning girl in love with the handsome vampire scenario which seems to be more and more the case these days. This was much darker and the pace faster. I did have a favourite character though and it wasn´t the two main characters but the female vampire with real attitude and a penchant for handbags. A girl after my own heart. Just waiting for the sequel now.

I found the heroine, Serenity, to be far too weepy. Throughout the entire story her response to every situation was to cry her eyes out and sob about her life and situation. The romance between her and the vampire was ridiculous - a deep, all encompassing love based on nothing but meeting each other. There was no building of a relationship of any kind; they met and were in a tortured "this will never work out" relationship. The story definitely illustrates a life of feeling alone and on your own, but throwing in the vampire love affair made it a cheap C-grade novel.

Heroine really annoyed me in the beginning, showing too much weakness. It was good to see her gain courage.

Even though Serenity annoyed me a few times, I couldn't stop reading about her.

Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.I sat down to read this book, needing a change of pace, something to read just for fun, and that is exactly what I got. I got a novel that I was not able to put down, that was thoroughly enjoyable, and that I loved every minute of reading. I found the characters believable, the storyline enjoyable, and really just could not walk away from this one.
I was lent this ebook via a NookFriend, and am so glad that I found it. I had not heard of the author before picking this one up, and somehow cannot imagine how I did not know about this particular series.
I found myself sucked into the book, feeling as though I was a part of the story. I could feel the cold touch when Sebastian reached out to Serenity when she was running wild through the streets. I could feel the terror in her heart when she saw what she had done to her husband, and the exhilaration of finally being free of his controlling hand.
Overall, I think this is a must read for any paranormal romance fan. There were a few scenes that I would have to say are not appropriate for younger readers, but they were minimal and I did not feel that they detracted from the story in any way. I give this a 4.5 star rating!
