An American Affair: Stories

( 1 )

Overview

Winner of the 2004 George Garrett Fiction Prize: Stories

"The dozen short stories of An American Affair give us back a clear and accurate reflection of our own world here and now. Linked together by geographical setting and the clash of contemporary cultures, they challenge our easy assumptions with complexity. The characters are wholly credible and fully dimensional. The stories they tell are moving and memorable. This is short fiction at its best and brightest."—George ...

    A fine collection

This collection is about people from two different worlds coming together or trying to. An American Affair is about North Americans and Latin Americans interacting with each other and not always completely understanding each other. It's about an interaction between people, between cultures. It challenges assumptions about love and life. Some of these stories are just amazing. It's one of the best short story collections I've ever read.
