    Fun contemporary read

I'm a sucker for small town stories and add to that three sexy brothers working with animals? What we got here is a fun contemporary romantic read. I am never disappointed with a Jill Shalvis contemporary and Animal Attraction is no exception.

I fell in love with both Jade and Dell right from the beginning. Jade moved to Sunshine, Idaho eighteen months before the story began. She went through a very traumatic experience and left Chicago to escape her family and her memories, though she eventually planned to go back home. When Animal Attraction began, she was working as a receptionist in an animal clinic and had about a month left in Sunshine before she leaves for home. Dell was Sunshine's sexy veterinarian. Animals love him (and vice versa) and the ladies love him more. On the outside he was friendly with a ready smile for everyone but he doesn't let anyone too close except for a few friends. Both have trust issues and do not let people get too close but for different reasons. I like that they have that in common. They are also reluctant to start anything because Jade is leaving and it was great watching them fight their attraction to each other. It was great watching them get together--their chemistry was great.

I also really liked the relationship Dell has with his brothers, especially Adam. It was fun seeing them interact and give each other a hard time. I am looking forward to reading Adam's book--I think I already know his heroine. I did wish that there was some dialogue (or some kind of resolution) between Dell and his mother. There were a few scenes between them and I know the issues in their relationship cannot be resolved quickly but it felt like that secondary story line was left hanging.

The writing and the pacing was great. The dialogue felt authentic to the situation. There is also great humor in this one. Animal Attraction is the second book in a series but it can be read as a standalone. I myself did not read the first book but after reading this book, I am definitely moving up Animal Magnetism (Brady and Lilah's book) up my to-be-read pile. Brady and Lilah were super cute in this book.

If you're looking for a fun contemporary read, you should definitely check out this series and Jill Shalvis (if you haven't already). Animal Attraction is a light, fun, sexy read and highly entertaining.

    ARC Review:Animal Attraction

I love Dell. First of all, what animal lover doesn't has a certain type of love for veterinarians, and second, if Dell was my veterinarian, I'd have some love for him too! From the first line in the book, I knew it was going to be a good ride. What's that? You want the first line? Okay, okay. "'Come on, baby,' he murmured. 'Give it up to me. You know you want to.'" Yes, that was Dell. And if you want to hear, or read, more of him you'l have to wait till the release date! Trust me folks, it'll be worth it. Animal Attraction was the perfect mix of cute fuzzy animals and hot animal attraction. Seriously. Dell and Jade, Jade and Dell, they make a purrfect pair. And that cute little kitten on the cover, yup, that cute little kitten is definitely like icing on their cake. And Dell, oh Dell, he is the sweetest thing ever! I adored him as a Vet. he was fantastic with the animals, always knowing what to do... and with Jade. Jade has a lot going on in her, life, battling demons as Adam says, and Dell is great with her. Dell deals with hurt animals for a living so he knows exactly when to stop and push when it comes with Jade. And despite what she says, Jade wants it. I mean, who wouldn't with a boss like Dell? But like with any hurt animal, or person, it takes a lot of time before Jade feels comfortable with Dell and her feelings, and let me be the one to tell you, they're ride is enjoyable! I'm more of a city girl myself but I found myself wanting to visit a place like Sunshine! It always seems like all of the hot, marry-type men are in little cities. I might just have to change my ways if it means finding one, especially one like Dell! And, if he's a Vet. that's definitely a plus in my book! Sunshine and all of the people/animals in it had me fall in love. I love Dell and Jade and even Lilah and Brady. If you love fuzzy animals, hot Vets, and heroines who are fighting demons (not literally) and find comfort in the hero, Animal Attraction is definitely the book for you. It was definitely one for me!

A Great Book for Romance Readers and Animal Lovers

I love Jill Shalvis and I LOVED this book. Both main characters were likeable and I loved the continued development of Lilah, Brady, and Adam. This is a book that I highly recommend.

    Great Book

I read the other book in this series, ANIMAL MAGNETISM, and immediately after I finished it I wanted to get this book. It was even better. The hero is a really cool guy and I liked him a lot.

    One of my favorite series
Animal Attraction is the second book in Jill Shalvis' Animal Magnetism series and in it, we get to get up close and personal with the oh so hot veterinarian Dell Connelly.  We got to meet Dell and his handsome broody brother Adam in book one, Animal Magnetism, and I couldn't wait to read his and Jade's story.  Dell is quite the player and is somewhat of a man-whore.  The only woman who isn't falling at his feet, however, is his receptionist, Jade Bennett.  There is definitely chemistry between the two, much they try to ignore it.  Jade has a past that has left her vulnerable and caused her to leave her old life behind, ending up in beautiful Sunshine Idaho.  Her past has also kept her from letting anyone get too close to her as well.  Dell sees a lot more than she is aware of, and is determined to help her heal.  Dell also has issues from his past that have caused him to have commitment phobia, but Jade can also see past his disguises as well.  Try as they may, they can't avoid the inevitable and things get hot and heavy between them, and not only physically.  Their feelings run deep, but when push comes to shove, will Dell have the guts to hold onto this woman who has captured his heart, and if he does, will Jade have the guts to let him have it?

I loved Dell''s character.  He's such a great guy, despite his man-whorish past.  I also love the relationship he has with his brothers.  Of course there is the fact that he is a total hottie who will cause you to melt in a puddle with his smile.  You also get to see plenty of Brady and Lila, who were in the first novel, and then there is Adam, and I think he is going to wind up being my favorite by the time I read his story, which is next in the series.  While this is a series, each book can easily be read as a standalone, though after reading one, you'll want to devour the rest of the series.  Animal Attraction is an awesome contemporary romance that will capture your attention and your heart and I can't recommend it highly enough.

And cute like a puppy too!
So I liked this book. I didn’t love it like I love Ed Westwick in a suit, but I liked it. It’s another solid offering from Jill Shalvis. This was an audiobook for me because I’ve been doing some traveling this summer, so I was looking for something reliable that I knew I’d like, and this didn’t disappoint.

The basic story is that Jade (is anyone else not a fan of this name, it just makes me think of a cheap Chinese buffet.) got held up at her family’s medical center in Chicago, and traumatized, clears her mind on a road trip that leads her to Sunshine, Wyoming. She gets a job running Dell’s veterinary practice, and for eighteen months she doesn’t volunteer any personal information about herself to her new friends. When her family begs her to come back, she’s faced with a big decision.

The romance between Jade and Dell is nice. There honestly doesn’t seem to be a super amount of chemistry between them, but the book is well-written and they’re both good people without annoying or stupid quirks so I can’t complain that much. Dell has abandonment issues because his mother gave him up and he was raised as a foster kid so he becomes a dude that just dates lots of chicks, but never has relationships. After being told all her life that she was strong, Jade is still coming to terms with her fear and being ineffectual during her attack. These issues are written believably, and by that I mean I felt like the author had the characters handle their issues in a believable and rational way. It’s kind of rare thing in romance novels so it’s definitely worth noting.

Their feelings for each other sneak up on each other, since their romance doesn’t start until Jade has given Dell her notice and is intending to go back to Chicago to her old life. Up until that point, Dell helps her learn self-defense, more or less giving her the confidence she needs to leave, and in the end, he also gives her the confidence to follow her own path, which of course, leads back to him and Sunshine. Dell himself is wonderful. I mean, it’s just difficult to go wrong with a character who loves and takes care of animals and is hot so I don’t know how Jade held out so long.

Anyway, this one is definitely worth the read. Like I’ve said before, Jill Shalvis has a way of letting her characters heal each other, and that’s definitely what happens here. While their conversations are kind of dull, they both give each other what the other needs to be happy, confidence for Jade and security for Dell. It was pleasant to listen to as I drove through the winding, majestic roads of West Virginia, and made me wonder what I’d find if I kept on driving.

    The pick of the litter

I first picked up this novel because I was suckered in by the cover - a cute guy with a kitten (although that's not the case on the Nook book). After staying up late to finish Dell and Jade's story in one sitting, I was hooked. This book has the best plotting of the series and can be read on its own, although you may want to read the first book to get background on the other characters. Sit back and enjoy a sexy romp at this vet's office!
