Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Marilyn Courtot
The bear family is making a move and brother bear is worried. Assured that he will be able to take his toys and books, but cannot bring his friends, dubious brother bear set out with his family for their new house in a tree. The house needs some fixing up, but Brother has a room of his own and there appear to be many new kids to play with in the neighborhood. A book created to help kids going through the angst of relocation.

Meet the Author

Stan and Jan Berenstain were both born in 1923 in Philadelphia.  They didn't know each other as children, but met later at school, at the Philadelphia College of Art.  They liked each other right away, and found out that the both enjoyed the same kinds of books, plays, music and art.  During World War II, Stan was a medical assistant in the Army, and Jan worked in an airplane factory.  When the war was over, they got married and began to work together as artists and writers, primarily drawing cartoons for popular magazines.  After having their two sons Leo and Michael, the Berenstains decided to write some funny children's books that their children and other children could read and enjoy.  Their first published children's book was called The Big Honey Hunt.  It was about a family of bears, who later became known as the "Berenstain Bears."

Stan and Jan planned all of their books together. They both wrote the stories and created the pictures.  They continued to live outside of Philadelphia in the country.  There are now over 300 Berenstain Bears books.

    Experience Moving

This book helped me understand the pains of being uprooted without ever coherently experiencing a big move like Brother did in this book. This book was one of the original Berenstain Bears books I had when I was a young child in the early 1990s and I recommend it. Plus, it gives plenty of background info for the Bear Family.

Teaches children much of meeting new friends and leaving old friends

This is something I went thru all of my life as my dad was in the military service, but as it can be depressing to many children, it can also be enlightening to other kids because they can meet different kids, meet new kids, and, best of all, meet new friends. I believe that children who move around a lot actually are forced, in a good way, to meet more diverse people who will expand their horizons, and because of this, the child will grow more productively and in tune with their world.

    Moving

Im so happy my little brother likes reading these books. I think they are fun short reads too. I can sorta relate to Brother bear in Berinstain Bears and the new girl. I like this girl named Audrey but we couldnt date because people bully me a lot and I just cannot pick my fights wisely. I got into a lot of fights with a guy named Sebastian because he likes Audrey, Audrey hates him because me and my friend Brennan found out he goes on porn websites which will not gain you popularity in a 4th grade classroom. DUH! And mostly because I hate sebastian. She thinks people will start bullying her because people bully me.
