Overview

The Book of Celtic Wisdom is a collection of the poems, proverbs, and aphorisms of the Celtic people that have been passed down from generation to generation for thousands of years. These are the proverbs and blessings that bring the wisdom of the ancient Celts to life. Their thoughts on charity ("Stretch out your hand in giving, and you will never stretch it out in need"), aging ("The older the fiddle, the sweeter the tune"), and work ("The lazy young man and the poor old man; two sides of the same coin") are as...

A thoughtful and reflective compilation, this book is bound to inspire, enlighten, and entertain readers every-where.

Editorial Reviews

Publishers Weekly
Based in County Dublin, Scott has authored over 80 books, including Irish Folk and Fairy Tales, and so has had ample opportunity to gather the material for this pocket-sized book. Set in a Celt-like font and separated by runes, the book's wisdom runs from the canny ("Better a good enemy than a bad friend") to the timely: "The ink of a scholar will survive longer than the blood of a martyr." Enjoyable but too short

I enjoyed the various sayings and comments but the book is far shorter than what is given in the description! I wrote B&N about it but I have yet to receive a response. Yet, that was more than a month ago....

This book contains many quotes that can be applied to many aspects of life.  I enjoy having the quotes at the tip of my fingers.  The little intros by the author offers a little information without over powering.

Book of Celtic Wisdom a Ripoff

I am apalled thet Barnes and Noble is selling this 28 page pamphlet of $9.99 as if it were really a book. Moreover, what they are passing off as scholarly research into Celtic Wisdom by Michael Scott in nothing but a collection of old sayings we have been hearing all our lives like: "Lie down with dogs and rise up with fleas", "Clothes do not make the man..." and "The proof of the pudding is in the eating". All the rest of the "wisdom" could well have come from Wikipedia or andy other common reference.
