    Highly recommended.

Piers Anthony's third installment of the land of Xanth is a fun and amusing coming of age tale. It's also a tale of tolerance, acceptance and friendship. You find in this book that you really can't judge a book by its cover.

    Rediscovered treasure

Many years ago, I read & collected Xanth novels. I have now rediscovered them and am in the process of rereading them. They are as fun now as they were then! I have them all & recommend them highly!

    I Also Recommend:

    AMAZING!!

So far I have only read the first three Xanth Novels and I've ordered the next two, but of the three I have read this one is my favorite. It starts of a little bit slow, but once it gets started you can't stop. I highly recommend this book.

    more from this reviewer

    I Also Recommend:

    Fantastically fantastical

When I want to unfurl my geek flag a little, I indulge in Piers Anthony. His work is purely escapist, yet deliciously pun-ny for those who are paying attention :)

    I Also Recommend:

    Xanth goes back in time!

This book is a wonderful Xanth novel and if you think you've seen it all in these books, think again! Piers Anthony bends words even more in this novel. If you've got your mind set on Xanth novels, this is a good one to read. I've never read in any of the other books where the main character goes back in time.

    Favorite Xanth book so far!

I was just recently introduced to the Xanth novels and have quickly fallen in love with them. Castle Roogna was a complete joy to read. Interesting characters, huge battles, time travel, love, and fun. The character development through out the story was wonderful. You can almost see Dor maturing as the adventure continues. A must read!

    Back in time!

In Castle Roogna, Anthony's third Xanth novel we get intoduced to a new character, Jumper! Never in my life did I think I would support a spider. Also the Zombie Master makes a more proper appearance along with the magician who the castle is named for. All and all another great read.

Jumper is the Best spider EVER!

Jumper, who is Definatly my favorite character in literature, was so well developed in this book. Okay, Okay. I know that he is a spider, But I absolutely ADORE him!!! This is my favorite of the Xanth novels, and the only book that ever made me cry! (When Jumper got his legs pulled off) Well, except for possibly The Novella The Body found in Steven King's 'Different Seasons'.

Anyone who can make you love a spider...

Alright, I know this may sound cheesy, but anyone who can make you love a spider, even a little, has some serious talent. Every time I read Castle Roogna, I want to go find My very own spider friend. It left Me so sad, knowing that noone else knew of the relationship between Dor and Jumper. It was his own personal little secret friend. Piers Anthony was able to make a spider who could not even speak except through web translation, become such an intricate part of the young Dor's life. Helping Him grow up and become a Man. This was one of My favorite books by Piers, except for perhaps Centaur Aisle, because that book reminded Me so much of young love. Piers is My most favorite author EVER!

    Non stop action

This is one of the very good books in the Xanth series. It is one of the 6 or so books in the series that comes close to capturing the plot and writting of the first book. This book jumps straight into action. And we get a history lesson of Castle Roogna. The book is filled with suspense and irony.

    A good recommendation

This my favorite of the magic of Xanth series so far Castle Roogna introduces the offspring of the wonderfu charactors of the first two books this book decribes how hard it is to be a child and that it is good to enjoy your childhood I connected withthis book because I had to grow up very fast so I relate to the young charactor and the relationship between young Dor and jumper is touching it brought a tear to my eye excellent work Piers the best so far keep it coming
