What if charisma could be taught?

The charisma myth is the idea that charisma is a fundamental, inborn quality—you either have it (Bill Clinton, Steve Jobs, Oprah) or you don’t. But that’s simply not true, as Olivia Fox Cabane reveals. Charismatic behaviors can be learned and perfected by anyone.

Drawing on techniques she originally developed for Harvard and MIT, Cabane breaks charisma down into its components. Becoming more charismatic doesn’t mean transforming your fundamental personality. It’s about adopting a series of specific practices that fit in with the personality you already have.

The Charisma Myth shows you how to become more influential, more persuasive, and more inspiring.

A lot of very specific information.

Since grade school, I've recently just picked up the hobby now a habit of reading about six months ago so I may not be the "professional" on reviewing books of any kind. But from your average played every sport possible as a kid through my teens and not exactly a "bookworm" per say. I must tell you that this book is extremely informative, exciting, and truly easy to read. Even for an old jock like myself. It explains this mysterious characteristic of Charisma thought only to be a genetic passing or that only the lucky posses it, truly shows that not only is that not true but this in deed a skill that can be not only be taught but can really and truly be learned by anyone who has the will and dedication, whether you believe this or not this is backed by studies, stories, even the most highly sought after and respected scientist, professors, and the true Philosophers of the 21st Century. Not only do I recommend this to anyone and everyone, I insist that if this "Skill" is the only thing keeping you from that raise you've been working so hard on, or that promotion, or that transfer to that department you've always dreamed of all the way up to that guy or girl that's had your Heart from first sight but have been always lacking this skill. Worry no more the answer is here. Go Ahead and Be that Guy you've always Admired, the one who got all the good seats at the games, the most beautiful women, the best table at the restaurant, inside all of the greatest nightclubs when the line wraps around the block this is your Key.

It has some good tips for distressing, which most people probably know how to do. I was disappointed in that it is written more for people in business who give presentations, etc. It has some good tips but overall I was disappointed in its content.

Why spend the day stomping snakes when you could easily walk around them? Listening for things that go bump in the night? Let your dog take care of it. That's its job.
