I love this book! I could not put it down, from the moment I started reading it I was in another time. It is very emotional at times and had me up till the early hours of the morning crying with her! I love the setting and the characters. This is a great read!

This book is the reason I requested a Nook for Christmas. The tale was well-crafted and drawn out well enough to create an anxious tension for the reader regarding the two main characters. My only complaint is that justice was not as severe as I would have liked--the antagonists who fueled most of the drama and chaos got off way too easily for my liking. But I found myself cursing the number of pages to the payoff, and then cursing that there was no more story to read. A great introduction to Ms. Carr and her writing--I will certainly be seeking out her other works. Side note: While I was able to read past them, there were a number of typos the copy editors should have caught. Someone see to it that they are properly flogged.

I could barely finish this book and found it a complete disappointment. The male lead was manipulative and disgusting.....waste of $.

It was a fun while reading but not very memorable. The characters didn't really make you fall in love with them... Chelynne or Chad. I couldn't really identify with the heroine, especially after she hooked up with her supposed love's best friend, yuck. There is one really worthy cry part though. It just wrapped up a little too quickly for me, felt rushed.

From the moment I picked this book up I was sucked into the world Robyn Carr made. I fell in love with the people in the book and never wanted to put it down and never wanted it to end I wanted to find out what would happen next in there life. Such a good book if you haven't read Robyn before she never lets you down she takes you away and puts you in the worlds she has created.

Really enjoyed this story. My 1st Carr book & I want more. The characters were so real & relatable. My heart broke for Chelynne & I wanted to strangle Chad. The story was so real I was sucked in & taken on an emotional roller coaster. I look forward to reading more of her historicals. I definitely recommend this...but you might want to keep some tissue near.

This is the first review I have felt compelled to write. I have followed Robyn Carr's Series to the last and read another of her books. But this one is amazing. I am fond of Cathy Maxwell's and Liz Carlyle's historical romances but this book is a book superb with intrigue, deception, passion, heartache and most importantly love. The book's rating to me was a full box of Kleenex.

I love Robyn Carr's work and while stranded in an airport recently, found that some of her earlier works are now on Kindle.
This was a well researched and enjoyable escapist read!

Have you ever read something so boring that you just HAD to finish it? Well, that's how I feel about Chelynne. The characters - Chad and Chelynne - aren't likeable, their age difference is somewhat disturbing (I fully understand that this is typical of this time period, but I still had trouble envisioning it). There were several unnecessary chapters that focused solely on the secondary characters and plot, which made the overall book choppy and disjointed.

After reading the excerpt, I was expecting one thing and was continually suprised how it stayed to the theme but changed in such drastic directions. You really feel for these characters and don't want to put it down until you know the ending!
