Overview

What happens when a suave, sexy chef meets a cute, sassy food critic?

When Shelbi Arrington accepts a position as a food critic in the hopes of burying her medical career and foregoing her residency, the last thing she's searching for is love. However, that's just what the doctor ordered especially when she lays eyes on the handsome chef, Justin Richardson. While sorting out her secret conflict of continuing her medical career, she falls for his mouthwatering charm, leaving her hungry for anything he has to offer.

Justin is leery of doctors because a doctor's negligence caused his mother's death when he was twelve. He has put his focus and energy into his restaurant, which had been a dream he and his mother shared. Justin is immediately smitten by the cute, sassy food critic that has him cooking up different ways to please her appetite. But when things start to heat up, Shelbi learns of a shocking revelation that could extinguish the flame of their relationship. Will Justin be able to forget his pain and commit to the woman who has stolen his heart?

Cooking Up Love is the first book in the Arrington Family Series.

Shelbi Arrington is a contributing food critic for the Memphis Tribune. She's also a med student avoiding her residency as she's undecided about continuing her path as a doctor. Justin Richardson is the owner and head chef at Lillian's Dinner and Blue's Club. A chance meeting, Justin is chivalrous and Shelbi intrigued. Unfortunately they didn't exchange information, so whatever vibe they had ended, or did it?

What could a food critic and a chef have in common besides their love for food? Shelbi learns that her family is tied to 20 years of pain for Justin. Instead of explaining their unique bond, Shelbi is prepared to throw away what they have. Desperate to know what happened, can Justin deal with the truth?

I mainly picked COOKING UP LOVE because I loved the title and the premise. I like that the main characters share a love for food that blossoms over time. It is very obvious early on that the two characters will have an issue. Author Candace Shaw tried to build the climax up, but in my opinion, it just didn't work. There are some issues with editing, but for the most part, COOKING UP LOVE is a warm and delightful read.

Cooking Up Love was the first book I have read by author Candace

Cooking Up Love was the first book I have read by author Candace Shaw and it was a good quick read. In the beginning of the Arrington family series we meet Justin Jay Richardson and Shebi Arrington. He is a chef and she is a food critic really desiring to be a doctor. As the two meet on the trolley sparks begin to fly. These two embark on a whirlwind relationship that was sweet and brings a smile to the readers. Great start to a series and can't wait to read the second installment, Game of Seduction.
