I initially purchased this book with my daughter in mind; however, I have been reading it myself. I have found that this is a great series, as well as a great read! To my surprise, the storyline is nowhere near dull and I can't seem to put it down until I'm done. And then, I have to run out and by the next book or two in the series. I even caught myself getting mad because I knew that I would finish the book late one night and would have to wait until the next day to keep reading! Anyhow, with all that said... buy the series! It's better than I thought!

"It is not how blood witches live, but is how they learn, how they servive in a world much like Morgans. Peoplr fear beings much like Cal and Cal's mother. We very much depend on witches, but the witches morely depends on us. To understand..."

Once again, a quick, easy and entertaining read! I love books like this. Cate Tiernan gets strait to the story, no extra details to skim through and only 185 pages.
The part that really intrigued me; is reading from a perspective of someone that has been betrayed and lied to by the people she loves when a shocking secret is revealed. Worst of all, she doesn't have her best friend to confide in.
Morgan's best friend Bree is a spoiled, selfish, little brat! The one and only time Bree doesn't get what she wants; she turns on her best friend and becomes a "Mean Girl".
WELL, Morgan has someone new to confide in. She can now confide in Cal, her new boyfriend. The very boy that every girl has been drooling over. The boy that introduced Morgan to witchcraft. The boy that caused the rift in Morgan and Bree's friendship. And, Morgan's first kiss! I am not sure about Cal, I am wondering if he is someone Morgan should trust. His mom seems pretty cool.
Anyways, about the witchcraft; when they perform a circle, it reminds me a lot like meditation. I could see that even if someone believed in wicca, it would be natural to be at peace when performing this ritual.
Overall, I loved the storyline. I could not pry my eyes from this book the moment I started reading (other than going to the restroom.sorry for that mental picture and yes I always wash my hands. LOL). So I read the whole book last night while my neighbor's dog wouldn't stop barking.
This is the second book in the Sweep series. I absolutely adore this whole series and I will never quit saying that, it's just amazing. If you liked the first book then you are really gonna like this one. We are introduced to Hunter at the end of this book, I'm not gonna give anything away with him and the rest of the series for those who haven't read it but Hunter is definitely my favorite fiction guy. I always see how everyone obsesses over characters like Edward and Jacob from Twilight but they can never compare to Hunter from this series. We don't get to know much about Hunter in this book but I'm just saying, my dream man would look and act just like him LOL.
The story starts out with the day after Samhain when Morgan discovers she must be a blood witch. After a confrontation with her parents she discovers she is adopted and her parents lied to her for her entire life(but with good cause). Morgan tries to find out about her birth mother(Maeve Riordan) and who she is and her heritage, she realizes she has strong powers, and she thinks Cal might be her soul mate. Meanwhile Bree and Raven have quit Cirrus and have joined a new coven, Bree and Morgan are on opposite sides and aren't on friendly terms. Morgan also realizes her dreams about life before Wicca has changed and now she wants to spend her whole life being a witch.

Tiernan put so much emphasis on power about magic in this book. Her plot is very captivating and keeps me addicted. Every week I go to the bookstore to buy two more books in the series because I can't put it down! This is unlike any other book I've read, and I love the author's creativity in it.

I absolutely love these books. The entire series is fantastic even though it's written for a demographic much younger than me. You can't help but to feel for Morgan and everything she experiences throughout the series. Her ups and downs become your ups and downs. I have always been fascinated with Wicca but also grew up in a Catholic home (like Morgan) and was also force fed that anything outside the catholic religion was wrong (no where near my beliefs now). I recommend these books to anyone who enjoys opening their minds to another world where magick coexists with reality. Tiernan has done a great job of blending them both together to where you can't tell where one begins and the other ends.

Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.when reading book two its still easy to keep track on whats going on with who. a girl finds out that she is a witch and that she was adopted.things really start to change for here and really all she can do is deal with as it comes. mind you 17 and is doing what she has for the ppl she loves. here family may not like it but she is who she is. morgen is not shy to let you know whats whats when it comes to some stuff. Along the way her and here best friends have a few bumps along the raod as well.

Same goes for this. The writing always makes you want just a little bit more and you find that you have already gotten halfway through in a matter of minutes. My only problem with it was how the writer would repeat what had ahppened in the first book during the story. If the readers wanted to read the series they should go in order. Sorry just ogt on my nerves. Other than that a great book and i can't wait until i can read the next

I found this book to be as good, though not as good as the first one. In this one much more happens to Morgan as she become more and more intwined into the world Of wiccan.

Cate Tiernan has done a great job on writing these books, though I am only on the second book (soon to be on the third), it captured my attention, which is hard to do, accounting that I have read many books and get bored with them easily. It includes things that teenagers actually go through. All in all this series will capture your attention.

I luv this series & it showed me the ups and downs of wicca( the dark wave is real!) but i SO DO NOT trust Cal. He is evil and untrustworthy, Morgan should leave him!
