Overview

In his new preface to this quality paperback edition, the author observes, "The Indian world has changed so substantially since the first publication of this book that some things contained in it seem new again." Indeed, it seems that each generation of whites and Indians will have to read and reread Vine Deloria’s Manifesto for some time to come, before we absorb his special, ironic Indian point of view and what he tells us, with a great deal of humor, about U.S. race relations, federal bureaucracies, Christian churches, and social scientists. This book continues to be required reading for all Americans, whatever their special interest.

Deloria asserts the worth of the redman and blasts the political, social, and religious forces that perpetuate the stereotyping of his people.

    truth

Vine Deloria really helps non-indians to see how life for indians were corrupted. I also like the way that Deloria expressed his feelings exactly the way that I felt.

    Didn't get my book

I never received the book I ordered, however this company was very quick to offer me a refund. A week earlier than the other company I ordered a book from and it never arrived. Very polite

    You want history, here's history

Vine Deloria not only rips apart the sterotypical view of EuroAmericans of American Indian, but he does it in a way that is entertaining while making you stop and realize what tragedies and horrors have been wreaked in the name of America. A real eye opener. Take your thoughts about America and flush them, because Vine Deloria wants you to see the truth.
