5 star I was pulled right into this story. The story flowed well and I was able to read it in one sitting. The story has laughs, pain, secrets, betrayal, and heartbreak. If you have not already read the below I would recommend reading that book first: Dare to Love (Dare to Love, #1) This is Madison and Alex’s story. Alex and Madison have been together for a little while when he gets injured. He tells her she is no longer needed or wanted so she can go. After being raised in foster care she knows all about be rejected. When they are brought together again through work they bother wonder if they can survive the impact. Between their history and his relationship with his half-brother things could go bad fast. When they come together again are a few people going to try there hardest to keep them apart? How far will some people go to make that happen? I loved these characters and all the Dare siblings. There are some tear filled moments and some anger filled moments in this story. But all in all I felt I was able to connect with the characters and the story was a great read. I highly recommend this book, this series and this author.

I personally liked Dare To Desire a whole lot more than I liked (or lack of it) Dare To Love. This story brings us the story of Alex Dare, Riley's best friend and Ian Dare's half brother. While reading Dare To Love, I enjoyed Alex more than Ian and Riley's relationship so I was very excited to dive into his story and I am so glad I did. The chemistry and sexual tension between Alex and Madison is so palpable, you can't get enough. Lovers of Carly Phillips' story will drink this story in one big gulp, without taking a breath of air. You will not regret reading this story. It does contain very minor spoilers of Dare To Love but not much so you can start with this story if you'd like. I honestly liked this one more.

160 pgs. This was a good book and easy to read. Kept my interest all the way. The overview tells about the story.

I wondered about Alex and his playboy ways in Dare to Love and now we get his story and it's a good one. So... what do you do when an injury ends your pro football career? You throw away the girl and hide away from life until your half-brother convinces you to come work for them. There's a catch though. That girl you threw away before, you'll be working on the project with her. This is book two in the Dare To Love series by Carly Phillips. Alex Dare is the half-brother to Ian Dare, whom we got to know in Dare to Surrender. Anyway... Alex agrees to go to work for Ian and vows to make things right with Madison, the girl he threw away, by working with her and winning her back. Madison, the girl, is determined to keep things professional at first. The more time they spend together though, the more she finds herself falling for him and back in his arms. Once they are back together, will a new job offer for Alex and Madison's foster mother's biological son tear them apart once and for all? Both Alex and Madison fight through their issues throughout the book and Ian and Riley make an appearance. You can read this as a stand alone book but I highly recommend Dare To Surrender as a read as well.

I really want to love this story because the blurb about the book was so interesting. Madison's childhood was so sad and the author seemed to blame her for her abdomen issues. She did not deserve any of the pain she received. Then there is Alex, who had everything, and now wants Madison back. He had to work to get her back but not enough for me to feel it. Normally, this author gives us romance, attraction, fun and great interactions. I would suggest reading this because it is a stand alone book with a HEA. The first book in this series Dare to Love was better . This book had some serious topics that were heavy, and took away from the story of Madison and Alex.

Alex had it all, until he didn’t. He went from a star football player living a big life with everything he wanted being thrown at his feet to living a depressed lonely life. Then he met Madison and let her go. Now he wants her back. The second time around won’t be as easy as the first time. Alex has a lot to prove. I felt bad for Alex. Whether a big star or a little no one when your world is turned upside down it is hard to get it righted. He had worked hard to get the life he had and wasn’t sure what to do now that he could not live that life. The upside…. Ian, his half brother, offered him a job. It was a small bridge to bring together two sides of the family together. I enjoyed watching him have to work to get his life right and make some tough decisions. Madison… oh Madison. What a tough life she had. Growing up in foster homes, falling for Alex and then him not doing right by her…. then getting her dream job bringing Alex back into her life. I love that she made him work. She didn’t just give in to him and fall back into his life. She calls him on his issues and lets him into her life.

This series is best read in order but they can be a stand alone read as well. Very well written with a great plot and the characters are life like. It is a book that you cannot put down and a series that is recomended for its family dialogue and passionate love affairs.

3.5 STars Reviewed by Francesca and posted at Under The Covers Book Blog I’ve been playing catch up on this series for Roll Back Week and as you probably have been able to tell in the past, I’m a fan of Carly Phillips’s writing style. It’s exactly what I look for in a contemporary romance. Fun, light hearted and sexy, usually with a bit of a brooding alpha hero and a strong willed, independent heroine. DARE TO DESIRE has exactly that! This is Alex’s story, whom we met in book one as the best friend of the heroine. He’s lived his life to the fullest of his quarterback playboy abilities, and never thought he would be settling down. That is until one woman made a bigger impact than he thought would be possible. After an injury that ends his sports career as he knows it, Alex has to rethink everything about his future and where his life is going. And when Madison comes across his path again for a project they must do together, he knows he wants to hold on to what they had and explore it further. Madison has a lot of issues to get over, being in the foster system she’s grown up feeling she’s not good enough for love. That she can’t trust people to care for her and be there for her. I found her problems got to be a bit much for me, and her confidence should’ve been growing a bit more. I’m not sure how I can believe she won’t crumble again after their HEA. But I get it, the media focus on a star athlete can be a lot to deal with for a normal person and maybe she just needed time to come to grips with it. Alex was completely adorable though. Perfect swoon worthy, sweet and sexy, sports hero. He’s just old enough that he’s had his fame and has played the field. He knows that the relationships around him need to be strengthened and it’s time for him to grow up. That includes the woman in his life, as well as his hang ups with his brother Ian. This book has a pretty well rounded story for the low page count. We get plenty of romance, plenty of family and friendship bonds, and an overall good story. I enjoyed it quite a bit, but I think it was missing a little something extra to make it special. Not quite sure what to put my finger on. Still a nice story and I’m ready for the next!

Dare To Desire by Carly Phillips is a steamy, hot read! Alex and Madison's story is an adventure in messed up relationships. Dare To Desire is a well written book with lovable characters, drama, humor and spicy sex scenes. I look forward to reading more from Carly Phillips soon. Dare To Desire is book 2 in the Dare To Love series, but can be read as a stand alone. This is a complete book, not a cliff hanger.

NOTE: DARE TO DESIRE can be found in the LOVE, LAUGHTER AND STEAM EVER AFTERS anthology release May 2015 REVIEW: 3.75 stars--DARE TO DESIRE is the second installment in Carly Phillips adult, contemporary Dare to Love romance series focusing on the Dare family of siblings and half siblings. This is quarterback Alex Dare, and social worker Madison Evans’s storyline. DARE TO DESIRE can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from previous storylines is revealed where necessary. Some background: Family patriarch Robert Dare kept secret a second family from his first wife and children. Each storyline will focus on one of the Dare half-siblings or cousins; the relationship between the two families of adult children; and a father’s weak attempts to amend for the sins of the past. Alex Dare is one of the children in Robert’s second family. Told from alternating third person perspectives DARE TO DESIRE focuses on a second chance relationship between Alex Dare and Madison Evans. Alex is a professional football player whose career has come to a grinding halt following the latest concussion that left our hero unconscious and without any memory of what happened on the field. Angry at life and everyone in general, Alex proceeded to destroy every relationship including the one with Madison Evans. Fast forward six months, and Alex is offered a position, by his half brother Ian (Dare to Love #1) with a rival football team that Ian owns. The catch? Alex will be partnered with Madison Evans-the woman whose heart he broke months before. Alex must atone for his sins and is slowly trying to gain forgiveness from those he pushed away, including family, friends, business associates and Madison Evans. Working together reminds Alex of everything he has lost and in this, Alex will begin a slow seduction of the woman he wants back in his life which isn’t too difficult considering Madison was still in love with the former football star. The $ex scenes are intimate and provocative. The secondary and supporting characters include Ian and Riley (Dare to Love #1) as well as a number of Dare siblings, half siblings and cousin including Gabriel Dare whose story will be told in DARE TO SURRENDER (Book 3) found in the Invitation to Eden serial. Gabriel is a hotel and night club owner, and Madison and Alex partake of the amenities. DARE TO DESIRE and the Dare to Love series focuses on family, betrayal and love. The characters are colorful, charismatic and engaging; the world building continues to follow the Dare family, their connections to one another, and the developing friendships between half siblings and Robert Dare’s two families. Carly Phillip’s DARE TO LOVE series is a must read and go to every time.

This was my first book by this author and I loved it! So much so, I had to purchase the next book in the series to see more family members get their happy endings! (And I totally forsee myself adding the rest of them to my collection too!!) This book can be read as a standalone, but my guess is that if you read it you'll be dying to get your hands of the rest of the books in the series too, they are quite addictive. HIGHLY recommend this book!
