Meet the Author

I grew up in a small rural town in southeastern Oklahoma where our favorite entertainment on summer evenings was to sit outside under the stars and tell stories. When I went to bed at night, instead of a lullaby, I got a story. That could be due to the fact that everybody in my family has a singing voice like a bullfrog with laryngitis, but they sure could tell stories-ghost stories, funny stories, happy stories, scary stories.

For as long as I can remember I've been a storyteller. Thank goodness for computers so I can write down my stories. It's hard to make listeners sit still for the length of a book! Like my family's tales, my stories are funny, scary, dramatic, romantic, paranormal, magic.

Besides writing, my interests are reading, eating chocolate and riding my Harley.

Contact information is available on my website. I love to talk to readers! And writers. And riders. And computer programmers. And teachers. And gardeners. And dogs. And puppets and poets and pirates and pawns and kings. Okay, I just plain love to talk!

This book is a fun read! The suspense grips you and keeps you turning the pages while the humor keeps you laughing even as you fear for the characters¿ safety. Lindsay is a quirky heroine we can all relate to. And what about the mysterious Fred? Is there going to be a sequel? Will he ever figure out who he really is? I hope so! I want to read more of this author!

I'd like to give it a 4 just to be democratic, but this one is well worth the 5 stars and then some. If books were in beauty pageants, this one would be Miss Congeniality. Chocolate, murder, mayhem, and more. What's not to love? Wish I'd written it.

This is my kind of book. Easy to read, fun characters and a great plot. If you love chocolate and a good mystery...this book is for YOU.

The word bittersweet comes to mind. Laughter, tears, and mystery. Three great ingredients to give the reader a totally satisfying read. Sally has crafted a wonderful book that will often keep you on the edge of your reading chair. Great twists, turns, and unexpected surprises. Sally is on a level looking down at the efforts of others. If you buy one book this year, Death by Chocolate must be the one.

I highly recommend this book. The characters were well developed and the story line made me want to keep reading. I did not want to put it down until I had finished it.

I love the depth of emotions and the well-rounded characters in Death by Chocolate. The main characters are charismatic and pull you right into their lives. The background characters round out the plot and the believability. The twists and turns are fun, thoughtful, and tense. This is one of those stories you can't put down! And the recipes are great, too! :D

I'll get to the point right away and tell you I love this book with a capital 'L'. The plot itself is predictable and has been done many times, but the author's clever writing style drew me in immediately and kept me hooked. The main character is witty and rebellious, and the story is told from her point of view, which is perfect, because her inner dialog and outrageous behavior had me laughing all the way through the book, even with truly serious events taking place. I had fun reading every page! I couldn't put it down, and I reached the end feeling refreshed and pleased. What a wonderful and fun way to tell a story! I will be keeping my eye on this author!

When I interviewed Sally for The Authors Show, I was delighted to learn that Death by Chocolate is not only a fabulous read, but that it is book 1 of a new series. I picked up a copy of Death by Chocolate and read it in 7 hours – it’s that good! This one is a definite page turner. It’s about the mystery, but it’s also about a cast of very well-developed characters that begin to feel like friends. I fell in love with Lindsey and her cat, King Henry. I wanted to strangle Rick (her soon to be ex) and my heart cried for Paula. I read the last page wanting to know more about Fred, but Berneathy keeps us in suspense. There’s a lot of humor in this book, which makes the story even more interesting. Overall, this is the beginning of a series I’m going to be following for some time to come. I will be recommending this series to several of my friends. I can’t wait to get started on book 2.

Great fun, easy read. Likeable characters. Told with humor. Plot wasn't terribly complex but still had a few twists and turns. Some good recipes at the back of the book. Plan to read the entire series.

I read the whole series in one swoop, enjoying every word. I loved the sarcastic heroine Lindsay, and enjoyed her relationships with her friends and secondary characters. I will read everything by this author.
