Levi Johnston

Levi Johnston was born in a tiny Alaskan town perched on the edge of untamed wilderness. Johnston, twenty-one, has been an outdoorsman since he was big enough to hold a fishing rod and aim a rifle. He has worked as an electrician’s apprentice and roustabout in Port Valdez and on Alaska’s North Slope. After his appearance as an honorary Palin family member at the 2008 Republican National Convention, Johnston modeled for Playgirl and was profiled in GQ, Vanity Fair, and New York Magazine and a guest on Today, The Last Word with Lawrence O'Donnell, and Larry King Live. He is the father of a young son, Tripp, and lives in his hometown of Wasilla.

    Give the kid a break

    He made some poor choices, as many people his age do, and then was suddenly shoved into the national consciousness whether he wanted to be or not. Not many would be able to handle the spotlight being shined on our mistakes. He can't see his son if he doesn't pay child support, rather hefty support, at that. There's nothing wrong with Levi Johnston trying to garner some payment for the upheaval that's infected his life. He's just doing the same thing the Palins are doing. If these people are the Christians they purport to be and really care about the well-being of that child, they will stop their nonsense and let the boy and his father have some time together.

    reminds me of Humphrey Bogarts line in Casablanca "of all the towns, she had to walk into mine"

    Deer in the Headlights is like a memoir; Levi Johnston tries to portray himself as an average joe who likes to hunt, fish, and a particular woman who gets caught up in an situation with romance, intrigue, betrayal, and suspicion. A situation that perhaps no teen should have to face and deal with. A stituation where people (Palins) profess religion and yet never see the inside of a church, or a service. A situation where people (Palins) profess family values, and yet the mother and father never ever sleep together, the family never eats together, and yet, where everyone is saying we have better family values than the johnstons. Meanwhile, if the Palins are so wealthy, why does Bristol still depend on Levis 1, 750$ check every month? If Levi is so bad, why is Bristol still taking him to court? who is the more productive member, Bristol who is always complaining or Levi, who is out there getting a job, working? At least Levi is going to the University of ALaska, I hope he continues his education and gets a law degree.

    Well worth the read. Very different perspective on a very public family.

    Mr. Johnston certainly adds clarity and inside information on how the Palin family manipulates the people around them and uses people in the media to further their own selfish goals. I am sure this took a great deal of courage to write this book. 4 stars!

    No. Dont waste your money or energy

    LEVI YOURE AN IDIOT!!! pretty sure you knew youd be in the "spotlight" when u got with the GOVERNORS daughter. Poor excuses, not worth your time of day! Dont blame your poor choices on someone else!

    Interesting read

    This book gives you some insight into the real Levi Johnston (assuming the events as related are true). He comes across as a down to earth guy trying his best to cope with a world he is thrown into. The Palins come across as a very dysfunctional family, as least from the author's viewpoint. I was pleased to see that he did not stoop to some of the bad-mouthing and immature rhetoric that Bristol Palin felt necessary to use at every opportunity.

    Levi.....an honest memory

    Finally an author who is honest! I feel sadness for the abuse he's gone through and yet his honesty is a tribute. So glad he didn't marry into that tribe!
