When I discovered this information, and because of my family history, I knew I had to find out everything I could about diabetes… for myself, for my children and for my future grandchildren. I have had family members who waited too long and lost eyes and other parts of their bodies to diabetes. Diabetes is the fifth leading cause of death in the US and it is also a major cause of significant morbidity; nine out of ten cases of type 2 diabetes can be attributed to habits and forms of modifiable behavior. After everything I have learned, it has become clear to me that anyone who is predisposed to diabetes or believes him or herself to be experiencing diabetic symptoms, should please see a doctor as soon as possible.

In this ebook, I will give examples of ways you can decrease and increase your chances or developing diabetes. Some of these examples are supported by studies which I have included, but some are just ideas and correlations I have found during my research… proven neither true or false. The main focus of this book will outline what I believe helps prevent, decrease, or increase your chances of developing diabetes.

Meet the Author

I have a family history of diabetes; my mother, my sister, my uncle and three grandparents have all been diagnosed with diabetes. Even though diabetes is not hereditary, studies do show the disease tends to run in families because of genetic weaknesses and risk factors they share, which are passed down through generations. Since I have a predisposition to diabetes, I wanted to thoroughly educate myself, so I could reduce my chances, and my children’s chances of developing this disease. I interviewed physicians, specialists, diabetics and family members who have diabetes and placed everything I learned in this document. I also have a good friend with diabetes who has shared a wealth of information with me, which I am pleased to pass on to you. I’m not a doctor, just an ordinary person who is writing about something that has greatly influenced his life.

I hope any person who has been affected by diabetes finds this book helpful, but the main reason I am writing this book is for my children and future grandchildren. I want to leave a record for them so they will know everything I have learned about diabetes, and not have to learn about it the hard way; because of this, I have included personal accounts from my family and friends on what they believed lead to their diagnosis, and what helped prolong their lives and reduce the effects of diabetes. All of their personal opinions are supported by current studies that I have included in this publication.

I wrote this ebook to help anyone dealing with diabetes and I’m donating the proceeds of this ebook to the non-profit group theglp.org. I hope you enjoy and learn a lot, I know I did.
