Ninety-nine percent of the time, the world spins like a top, the skies are clear, and your refrigerator is full of good food. But the world is a volatile place—storms rage, fires burn, and diseases spread. No one is ever completely safe. Humans live as part of a very complex ecosystem that is unpredictable and merciless. Could you protect your family in the case of an emergency—domestic or global?

The Disaster Preparedness Handbook will help you to establish a practical disaster plan for your entire family (covering all fourteen basic human needs) in case the unpredictable happens. Additional information is also presented for those with special needs, including the elderly and disabled, children, pregnant women, and even pets. Well-researched by an army veteran and current NASA engineer, this is the essential guide every family should have, study, and keep handy, in case the unthinkable should occur.

This is a very good book. It covers all the basics of disaster preparedness. In case there's any confusion, this is a reprint of the 1st Edition of Dr. Bradley's Handbook to Practical Disaster Preparedness for the Family. The newest (3rd) edition of that book includes several new topics, including solar storms, EMP attacks, and provides a very nice chapter on specific preparations for hurricanes, tornadoes, floods, tsunamis, and earthquakes. It is, however, a few dollars more. If money's a big issue, get this older edition. If not, you might want to spring for the newest edition.

A new dimension into preparing for the worst. A common sense approach is taken with this book, without going to extremes that others do. The author gives economical alternatives to many expensive prepper items on the market.

Great comprehensive book about prepping basics. Well written and organized.

A quick survey of the E-book version is disappointing. Any non-text - such as charts, text boxes, etc. are poorly converted. Also, unless one is a novice at prepping, I don't believe this holds much new information to be of any use.
