From sewing handmade garments in his mother's basement, to partying at one of his multimillion dollar properties and ringing in the new millennium with international superstar Prince, Daymond John’s climb to the top has been fettered with extreme highs and lows. Many are clueless about the amazing and harrowing story of how Daymond and his three friends – Keith Perrin, J. Alexander Martin, and Carl Brown – went from selling hats out of Daymond’s basement in Hollis, Queens, to building fashion empire with an estimated $400 million turn over.     Interesting rags to riches true story

    Although I follow completely different genres of music and fashion than what was described in this book, I found this to be a very interesting read. Daymond John describes his upbringing and things that happened around his neighborhood in Queens including the birth of hip hop, which is now a huge part of the music world. Through a combination of determination, skill and luck, he launched a highly successful clothing line inspired by the styles of the hip hop crowd. I found it fascinating to read about his experiences and enjoyed the advice that he shares.

    Great book for..

    Biz, management, marketing, communication, diversity skills. I am a college business instructor and will definitely encourage my students to read this. One thing that pops out from this book that i always tell my students...we all have the same capabilities; its up to you to decide how you will utilize those capabilities. Well written Daymond John.

    Diiferent version than the FREE kindle download

    The version that Kindle was giving away for FREE is a larger book, which is selling for 14.99 on bn. And this version has no cover art. : (
