Overview

In 2002, Lake Travis High School was a football afterthought in Texas, finishing an 0-10 season that capped a two-year stretch where the school won just once in 20 games. The superintendent has seen enough and wanted his athletic program, football in particular, to be as successful as the school's academics. A new athletic director brought in a new football coach who changed how the school and its community viewed football. Just five years later in 2007, Lake Travis won a wholly unexpected state championship. And the Cavaliers have hardly lost since, winning the state championship in each of the next four years. Through two head coaching changes, close calls and big plays, the Cavaliers made history. The 2011 title put Lake Travis High School in unprecedented territory as the only school in the state's storied football history to win five consecutive state championships.
