As much as I enjoyed the first book I have to say this took it to another level! I really enjoyed these two characters in the first book and I absolutely love them in this conclusion to their story. It's full of drama and these two are really put through the ringer but I loved how there was never a time that I thought they wouldn't make it. Their love for each other kept them strong, the passion was tangible at times. I loved how Sebastian claim Kallie as his own, it was never in any doubt in her mind that he would be anything else. I loved their scenes together. A great story and I'm looking forward to the rest of the series, I'm hoping we get to catch up with this family again.

** This review is spoiler-free as to Drowning to Breathe, but may contain spoilers for book one, A Stone in the Sea. ** Drowning to Breathe begins exactly where A Stone in the Sea leaves off. I’ll try to be a bit vague for the sake of readers who haven’t already read A Stone in the Sea, but I will say that if you haven’t yet read it, you shouldn’t read this review. This is the second book and you absolutely need to read ASITS first. Okay, now that the important part has been addressed, let’s talk about this amazing story!! Baz and Shea (LOVE that name!!) are now together and their relationship is HAWT! These two were meant for each other, and I love it. Their relationship isn’t an easy one though. Sadly, their relationship was built on lies and secrets at first. Now some of the secrets are out in the open… but there are more still lingering under the surface. I love intense stories filled with drama, secrets, and the like. I suppose it’s a guilty pleasure of mine. I also LOVE these characters. So this story was exactly what I was looking for. I adored the family aspect and how the main focus of this story was put on family. Baz, a tough guy on the outside, was a mushy little lovey mess when it came to Shea and her daughter. I just couldn’t get enough of the scenes with them all together. A tough guy with a heart of gold gets me every. single. time. “You can’t grow wings if you’re forbidden to fly.” This series has easily become a favorite of mine. With such a strong, emotional story and unbeatable characters, this is a series I’ve been recommending obsessively. If you’re a contemporary romance fan and you like your stories emotional, intense and super hot, this is a series you won’t want to miss. Audiobook Impressions: I was over the moon to see two of my favorite narrators, Sebastian York and Andi Ardnt, were the narrators for this. They also narrated the first book, A Stone in the Sea, which I also listened to on audio, so obviously it was pretty mandatory for me to continue on with it. Again, I ADORE these two narrators, and in my eyes they can do no wrong. They were perfect, as always, and so was this audiobook.

5 "Perfect Ending" Stars I fell in love with A.L Jackson when I read The Regret Series. After that I read everything I could get my hands on. When I read A Stone in the Sea, the first book in the Bleeding Stars series, I was blown away. Her writing gets better and better with each book. When that book left off with the cliffhanger to beat all cliffhangers, I was waiting (impatiently) for book 2. After getting the chance to read Drowning to Breathe early, I took it and was awed at how Shea and Baz overcame all the potholes their very public lives left in front of them. With lyrical prose that grabbed my heart and never let go, Shea and Baz and little Kallie, finally got all the good things they deserved. Picking up right where A Stone in the Sea ended, Baz is left reeling from the information that his arch nemesis is actually the very-not-dead father to Kallie. After bearing his soul to Shea, he's devastated to learn that Shea wasn't doing the same for him. At first he isn't sure how to deal with his world being turned up side down and is determined that he will not be the catalyst for more problems for Shea and Kallie. At first he thinks that the right thing to do is to extricate himself from their lives, but from the help of his bandmates and his brother, he realizes that the only path that makes sense is for him to fight right alongside Shea. Together they are determined to rip their happily ever after out from under Martin and do it as a team. I loved that this book showed two people working together without lies and secrets pulling them apart. They learned from their mistakes and didn't let anyone stand in their way. Of course there was suspense and tension while they waited to see if Kallie was going to be able to come home and afterwords while they waited for Martin to make his next move, but they didn't let that come between them. They were a unified front without unnecessary angst and drama. Watching them together was beautiful even during the most tragic of circumstances. The way the story came together showed that Baz and Shea had ties that bound them together before they even knew each other. Showing real love and devotion was a beautiful thing and Shea and Baz are the epitome of beautiful together. This brilliant story was the perfect conclusion to their story but opened the door for more from Baz's bandmates and from his brother. I'm excited to see where their stories take them and to get glimpses of the future that Baz and Shea worked so hard for. Arc provided by author for honest review.

‘There was just something about her that wouldn’t let me go. Something deep and unfathomable.’ Baz ~ ‘Sebastian had scarred me in the most beautiful ways.’ Shea Minor spoilers alert!!! Overall, I really enjoyed this sequel to A Stone in the Sea (Bleeding Stars, #2) . The cute dynamic between Baz and Shea's young daughter Kallie was truly one of my favorite aspects of their sequel. And of course, the sexy energy between Shea and Baz was off the charts. I connected to them easily during their intimate moments. I also really enjoyed the reflective thoughts they both had as they sussed out how to deal with Martin the snake Jennings and create a new family dynamic while not excluding their existing friends and family members. The drama was resolved realistically and ultimately in a very satisfying manner for all those impacted by the vicious actions of Martin the snake Jennings. Ugh! This guy totally beats Voldemort (Harry Potter villain for those not in the know) for the ugliest, slimiest and vilest villain award. I hated him with a passion, ugh! I silently cheered in relief when a very important person in Shea's life stood up for her and was instrumental in justice being served. The damage this man wrought in Baz and Shea's lives was incredible. Even with lives damaged and one lost, I loved that something good - Shea, Kallie and Baz creating a new family unit - came out of it all. And Austin, Baz's young brother also came out of this roller coaster ride of events realizing what he must do to become a man worthy of having someone love him as Shea loves Baz. Oddly enough, I did have a major issue with Baz dropping his subject pronouns so frequently, a habit that extended over to other characters occasionally as well. It didn't bother me at all in book one, so I'm guessing it was just a mood thing on my part. I'm not normally a rock star romance fan either so the fact that I'm still eager and willing to stay on this series ride is testament to Author AL Jackson's writing genius. I'm hoping that the future novels in the Bleeding Stars series will go back to Author AL Jackson's more eloquent style. But either way, I'm still invested and curious about how each of the Sunder rock stars find love when they each get their own Bleeding Stars novel.

I received this book from Molly McAdams. I would have purchased if it wasn't gifted to me. Amy left us with a huge cliffhanger with A Stone in the Sea and left us with our jaws hanging open and wondering what just happened. With this book she picks up right where she left off with our hearts broken an wanting answers. Will Baz be able to forgive Shea for the secrets she has kept? Or will he walk away for good this time? Will Shae finally be able to trust Baz completely and finally tell him the truth? I love Amy's books she has a way with her writing that has us not just reading the words she writes but feel every emotion she poors into the pages. This book was an emotional rollercoaster. At times I wanted to reach through the pages and strangle people. I loved the strength she created within her characters, the love and support Baz and Shea received from those closest to them, and the connection she created between Baz and Kallie. My words do not give this book justice it is a must read!!

A.L. Jackson is hands down one of the best writers I've ever read. The way she uses words is unique, poetic and soul crushing. I just can't get enough of her books. Shea and Sebastian are two of the most complex, heartbroken, hopeful characters out there. After losing Kallie at the end of A Stone in the Sea, Baz is heartbroken that he was lied to. Could Shea have lied on purpose? Drowning to Breathe picks up exactly where A Stone in the Sea left off. Sebastian needs answers and Shea is devastated. Baz has to walk out and regroup, but his heart is screaming for him to go back to his other half. Together, Sebastian and Shea are stronger. They are a forced to be reckoned with and they aren't going to stop fighting. The connection and heat between them is electric. The passion and love, amazing. I can't get enough of them! Add in the band, Baz's brother and a suspenseful ride of secrets, loss, pain, forgiveness and love, and Drowning to Breathe is an epic story! I can't wait for Lyrics book! :) "I see someone who's so fing sweet and kind that every time I look at her it just about knocks me from my feet, because I've had so much bad in my life I don't know how to stand in her presence. I see someone who I know I don’t deserve, so every time I turn around, I'm runnin' scared because I'm terrified of ruining everything she is."
