Editorial Reviews

All Movie Guide - Craig Butler
Looking for Love is really not a great film, but it's so infectious and bubbly that most viewers won't mind at all. The plot is full of holes, and there are any number of developments that will make modern audiences shake their heads in disbelief -- but it's done in such innocence and earnestness that they will probably be willing to go along with things and cut the film some slack. Besides, Love's real reason for being isn't to present a new take on the search for romance but to provide the genial Connie Francis with the chance to let loose with her pipes -- which she does in seven numbers, including a duet with Danny Thomas. Francis is immensely appealing when she's singing, especially during "Whoever You Are, I Love You," "Let's Have a Party," "I Can't Believe That You're in Love With Me," and the title song. She also has a winning personality that carries her through the dramatic stretches of the picture and a rather surprising flair for comedy. And whenever things may get just a little too demanding for her, she can fall back on the always reliable Jim Hutton, who's charming even at his most egotistical. Cameos by a number of stars add to the fun, making Looking for Love a nifty little divertissement.
