Midnight Blue, Vol. 3: Celebrities is much like the other volumes in this series. The video quality is as cheap as you would expect from a public-access show, as is the audio quality. That said, New York After Midnight has been honest about the limited A/V quality of the show and prefaces the program with an amusing disclaimer about the source materials. In terms of extras, the first is an optional trivia track that rattles off information about the celebrities who appear on the show, host Al Goldstein, and any related subjects. The results are both informative and witty. There's also a bizarre video segment thrown in as a bonus called "Al's Adventures on Demerol" that records a few minutes worth of a drugged-out dentist visit for posterity. All in all, Midnight Blue, Vol. 3: Celebrities doesn't offer sterling technical quality or plentiful extras, but those issues are moot. The rarity of the material is the real draw for the show's fans and that is what makes the disc worth checking out for that audience.

The third installment in New York After Midnight's series of Midnight Blue compilations is a cultish affair aimed at the show's fans. Midnight Blue Vol. 3: Celebrities is primarily devoted to collecting the many celebrity interviews that appeared on the show. It offers a fairly eclectic array of interview subjects, including everyone from O.J. Simpson to Russ Meyer to Penn & Teller. Unfortunately, a lot of these interviews end before they can really get started, but they still offer a certain curiosity value especially the ones conducted by the fearless Al Goldstein. There are also excerpts from some famous "celebrity videos" like the infamous Go-Go's hotel-room video. However, some viewers might be disappointed by these segments because they were censored to fit community-cable standards. That said, the entertainment level is brought up by the presence of Midnight Blue's one-of-a-kind adult service commercial between bits and also several segments in which Al Goldstein rants about celebs who have inspired his ire. Ultimately, Midnight Blue Vol. 3: Celebrities is best left to fans of the series, but there's enough amusing raunch here to entertain them.
