Overview

Scooby-Doo and his friends are at it again in Scooby-Doo: Winter Wonderdog. This Christmas tinged feature is presented in its original 1.33:1 full frame aspect ratio. Overall this is a pleasing transfer with dirt and grain being kept to a minimum and colors and black levels appearing sharp and very defined. The soundtrack is presented in Dolby Digital Mono in English, French and Spanish. This Mono audio mix is clear of most hiss and distortion, and is what fans might expect from a straight-to-video cartoon disc -- flat with little in the way of dynamic range or fidelity. Also included on this disc are English, French and Spanish subtitles. There are a few fluffy extra features for young fans to peruse through, including a "Winter Vacation" game, a music video titled "Christmas with the Monsters," a Scrappy-Doo music video, two featurettes showing fans how to draw Scooby-Doo and the Mystery Inc. gang, plus some DVD ROM content and trailers for other Warner Brothers titles.

Barnes & Noble - Donald Liebenson
Scooby fans will enjoy chilling out with this festively frightening collection of way-cool mysteries. "A Nutcracker Scoob" is a two-parter from the mid-'80s-vintage New Scooby-Doo Mysteries, wherein Fred, Daphne, Shaggy, Scooby, and -- horrors! -- Scrappy unmask the ghost that's scaring the Dickens out of a children's home. They also find time to mount a Christmas pageant and melt the heart of the bah-humbug landlord who wants to evict the kids. The fun snowballs with another Scooby/Scrappy episode, "Alaskan King Coward," "A Scary Night With a Snow Beast Fright," and, saving the best for last, "That's Snow Ghost," a first-season episode from the original Scooby-Doo, Where Are You? This memorable outing finds the Mystery, Inc. gang unmasking jewel thieves haunting a ski lodge. Things heat up with two more tropical episodes, "South Sea Scooby" and "Scooby Gumbo." Fans of the pet pooch will gobble up these mysteries like tasty snacks.
