Author David L. Cook's best-selling novel Golf's Sacred Journey: Seven Days at the Links of Utopia comes to the big screen in this inspirational sports drama starring Lucas Black and Robert Duvall. Luke Chisolm Black has the drive to become a professional golfer. Just when he's on the verge of going pro, however, he buckles under the pressure. In the aftermath of that crushing disappointment, Luke vanishes from the spotlight, uncertain if he'll ever return to the game again. Luke is driving through Texas when he crashes his car in the town of Utopia, and strikes up a friendship with Johnny Crawford Duvall, a rancher who knows more about the game of golf than the troubled young visitor realizes. Now, the more time Luke spends with Johnny, the more he begins to see life from a new perspective -- a perspective that will not only help Luke to make sense of where he's been in life, but where he's headed as well. Oscar winner Melissa Leo and True Blood's Deborah Ann Woll co-star.

Being a golf professional and familiar / using David Cook's ment

Being a golf professional and familiar / using David Cook's mental guidance, I look forward to reading the book. As with most movie-made-from-book attempts, the 'whole story' is rarely told / portrayed. Knowing that, I enjoyed the 'touches' throughout the movie - I'm sure the book is so much more in-depth knowing Cook. I look forward to reading it as well. Peace ... o ___

It wouldn't let me rate this movie as 0 stars.
If you read the book and loved it like me, don't be fooled into watching the movie. You will probably end up really angry and regret watching it like me. I loved the themes in the book and found it incredibly uplifting, enlightening, and well written, but the movie did not measure up. The acting was so so, but the director's decisions really ruined it. All of the main themes were thrown out the window. In trying to be uplifting and accomodating to many people, it lost the point of the book and failed to have quality in any of the new themes. Rather than focusing on the idea of fulfillment, it sort of touched on the pain of cancer, a widowed family, alchoholism and choices. Totally ruined the movie and lost the sense of purpose. If you can't tell from the rest of this review, this movie really pissed me off.
