OMG! I could not believe how easy it was to quit smoking after I read this book. Dr. Carr has you smoking while you read and you basically quit as you finish reading. I actually put the book down somewhere near the end of the it because I realized I was going to quit and I bought a couple more packs. About 5 days later I had a cigarette in my hand and thought to myself "this is stupid". I picked the book back up - finished it and quit. Of course it wasn't easy for a little bit but Dr. Carr gives you tools to deal with "the want" and I'm proud to say that after over 30 years of being a pack-a-day smoker ~ I'm done and have been a non-smoker for the past 6 months. {"6 months?" you say. "This book was pulished a month ago!" You're right. I used a previous edition and am reviewing the new edition that I purchased for a few of my still-smoking friends.} Now if he could only write a book about "The Easy Way to Stop Eating!" I'd be almost perfect! :) If you're ready to quit, pick up this book. I can honestly say it worked for me and ... it was suprisingly easy!

I am so glad this book was recommended to me. It is a "must read" for anyone who has finally made the decision to quit. Becoming a non-smoker is as easy as the author claims. The insight into smokers' behaviors and the tobacco industry's marketing schemes is invaluable. If you are really ready to quit, this book provides all the guidance and support you'll need to be successful.

Even smokers who have tried many ways and/or have been smoking many years realize they didn't really understand the true nature of nicotine addiction and the smoking habit. I think this book provides the missing link that allows people to finally stop smoking for good.

I recommend the audiobook. It was good for me to hear the voice and I couldn't make any excuses about reading. I finished all 5 discs in a day...I am a true believer. I've smoked for 13 years and was up to a pack a day. I told myself (and everyone else) every lie that I'd been brainwashed to believe about why I smoked...by the end of the book, I was literally sick at the thought of having to smoke another cigarette...but did so because I knew that this was the ritual to end my addiction. I won't get ahead of myself, or brag to others...but I honestly know, in my heart of hearts, that I'm done. Cold turkey. And I couldn't be happier. I believe that stumbling across this book was fate. It works and, the funny thing is...it is so dang simple.

All I can tell you with the utmost of sincerity is that after 20+ years of heavy smoking I read this book and it is 100% accurate that you will and can quit smoking with no issues. This is my miracle and no one will listen to me all around me, so I felt I should at the very least write a review. I cannot explain how it works or what happened when I read the book, but I am not having any withdraw symptoms and I am happy as can be-and it is a MONDAY people!!!!!!!!!!!! This man might not be a genuis or a scholar but what he wrote works and it was probably one of the best things I have accomplished next to having 2 beautiful children that I will be alive to raise....now granted a bus may hit me tomorrow, but at least I am not killing myself willingly. WOW-speechless....shocked....and totally recommend this to any smoker in any phase of smoking.

I had heard of this book recommended by many people, so I got a copy for my husband. He quit smoking 12 days ago and I am amazed at how great he's doing. He just got back from a weekend camping with the guys, which I was sure would be a real test for him, and he said he was fine and didn't feel tempted to smoke at all. My mind is blown. Thank you Mr. Carr!

I agree with every positive review already listed here. I never thought I would be able to quit smoking, after 35 years. Once I was close to finishing the book, I bought the last of my cigarettes, picked a date, finished the book, and quit smoking! No question about it. I have never experienced anything more rewarding than the freedom I now have in being a non-smoker!!!

I can't believe how effective this book was as a quitting tool. From 3 packs a day to no packs... COLD TURKEY! And I don't even miss 'em at all! I suggest this for anyone who has tried "every" way of quitting and found themselves always failing. This is the best way to go, hands down!

From the first day that I started reading this book I was very skeptical that I could really just stop smoking with no "replacement" nicotine, especially. I have tried to stop smoking this time around, several times but failed repeatedly until now!! I had quit before for 8 1/2 years. Then came divorce (one common "excuse" of stress, so I wasn't alone on this being a reason to pick up the habit again). This book explains every aspect of smoking on how you can take the power over the cigarettes instead of them having the power over you!!! I wish I had read this book way before now. I am recommending it to everyone who asks how I've quit smoking. My thinking about cigarettes has changed like never before. This author is is just like the rest of us-and truly an expert on this subject. Thank you Allen Carr!!!!

When a friend loaned me this book, I thought its too good to be true. Ironically, that sort of negative attitude is exactly what Allen aims to shatter in this book. You need an open mind and need to trust him regardless of how bad his writing first appears to be. I thought he was senile for repeating exact paragraphs multiple times throughout the book. Then it dawned on me that he wants us to subconsciously SOLIDIFY these paragraphs as key points to being smoke free. We also need to be active by meditating and answering his questions. By allowing the reader to smoke while reading he takes advantage of our weakness by making us vulnerable so that we are compliant with his instructions and comfortable enough to do the very thing we came to quit. This surprises and intrigues the reader and eliminates any predisposed alarm/fear of a painful quit. Then, he brilliantly rearranges your views and plants powerful ideas in your mind all the while working his secret magic by causing the reader to cringe and acquire a disgust for the cigarettes he directed us to smoke. All of a sudden we see ourselves as the victor breaking free from the shackles instead of the empty individual being told to back off and stay away from the powerful vice. In a way he has totally hypnitized the reader. I finished the book without any Ahha! moment yet i didnt think to smoke and now feel content and at peace.

This book has helped me, and so far two other family member quit smoking. I am buying it again for another family member who has seen the amazing transformation in us. Okay, so I guess there is nothing "new" that the author presents in this book, however, it is an easy read and he writes this book in such a relateable way. I have been smoke free now for over two years, and I am so thankful that I have been released from the burden of smoking! Highly recommend.

I smoked for 20 years. Never could go a day without. I was absolutely amazed that I quit after reading this book and have not even thought about or obsessed about the fact that I wasn't smoking. I am so happy to have found this book. He really taps into all the things going on in a smoker's brain that no one talks about.

SIMPLY AMAZING!! I was a smoker who lives with three other smokers...until I read this book. It took me about 2 1/2 days to read and that was it: wadding smoke! It was absolutely amazing how easy it was to quit and NEVER have the desire to smoke again. Being around smokers doesn't bother me, even while riding in the car or at parties. It's been over 4 years now and I haven't had the slightest desire to start up again. I recently ran into an old friend who has started smoking again after using a popular anti-smoking drug to quit and he's really discouraged with himself now. So I'm ordering the book for him. I believe in it so much! I wish I could order a thousand copies and hand it out to every smoker I see.

To be completely honest I wasn't expecting much going in. I've been smoking over 20 years, I knew all the reasons I should quit and really didn't expect to find any surprising new revelations in this book. And for the most part I was right, there really wasn't anything in there that I didn't know. But the way it was written made it very easy to read, and if I'm being completely honest, I'm having a much easier time quitting on this attempt than on previous ones. While he didn't say anything new to me, maybe the way he said it made it stick more in my head? Whatever the case may be, I've been smoke free about 6 weeks now and have had FAR FAR fewer "rough days" than I did on previous attempts.

It's a good book in general. Some things that most smokers know, and some that we didn't know - revalations if you will. However, you really need to be committed to quitting before you pick it up. It's basically hypnosis literature. Most of what Mr. Carr says makes sense, and he reinforces tactics on you throughout the book, but if you believe and your will is strong, i'm sure it will work for you. In the end, it's still about will power, but he gives you ways to cope and overcome the withdrawls.

Just like many other smokers I had tried many times to quit and was unsuccessful. I bought this book about 4 years ago and forgot about it. Eight months back I pulled it out and started reading it. WOW - the things he says in the book are SO true it is amazing! He tells of a new way out - a way to change your thinking in order to beat this addiction. I was so skeptical when I heard of this book 4 years ago, but bought it anyway. After I read it, I bought my husband a copy. He read it and quit smoking before I did. We have both been HAPPY non-smokers for over 6 months and going strong. If you have tried other things, you have NOTHING to lose. Please try this book. I can't say enough good things about it! If you are a non-smoker worried about a smoker, READ THIS, it will give you insight into the mind of an addict. It will teach you to not judge, rather support the smoker as they quit.

I stumbled across this book on the internet and checked it out from the library for my husband, who has smoked for almost 25 years. He had tried many, many times to quit. After reading the book, he quit. Just like that. The book is all about changing your attitude towards quitting, and it works! I haven't read it, but my husband said after returning the book to the library that he wanted a copy of his own so that he could "refresh" the ideas when he needs help. Although it has only been about 2 months (which is the longest he has ever gone before), I have no doubt that this book works.

I was skeptical at first about the book. I wondered how a book could even begin to help anyone to stop smoking. The more I read this book, the more I got into reading it. It addresses every type of smoker from light to casual to heavy and to all the others in between. You can smoke and he actually tells you to continue to smoke while reading the book. By the time I was halfway thru, I knew I could do it....the fear is gone, no craving for a ciggarette and no painful withdrawls. It was so easy and I feel so free! I'm so happy that I found Allen Carr's book....I don't look back, I look ahead. I have my life back! Thank you so very much Allen, I am a happy EX-Smoker!
