Meet the Author

Samuel Langhorne Clemens (1835-1910) fue un escritor y humorista estadounidense que escribió bajo el pseudónimo de Mark Twain.

Nació en Florida (Missouri) el 30 de noviembre de 1835. A los cuatro años, su familia se trasladó a Hannibal (Missouri), puerto fluvial en el Mississippi, y allí realizó sus primeros estudios.

Al morir su padre, en 1847, comenzó a trabajar como aprendiz en imprentas, y a manejar el oficio de tipógrafo; ya en 1851 publicaba notas en el periódico de su hermano. Posteriormente trabajó en imprentas de Keokuk, Iowa, Nueva York, Filadelfia y otras ciudades. Más adelante fue piloto de un barco de vapor, soldado de la Confederación, y minero en las minas de plata de Nevada.

En 1862 comenzó a trabajar como periodista en el Territorial Enterprise de Virginia City (Nevada) y, al año siguiente, comenzó a firmar con el seudónimo Mark Twain, que en el Mississippi significa dos brazas de profundidad (el calado mínimo necesario para la buena navegación).

A partir de 1864 empezó a frecuentar a otros escritores. En 1867 viajó a Europa y Tierra Santa. En 1870 se casó con Olivia Langdon.

Fue reconocido mundialmente durante los últimos años de su vida, y recibió el doctorado Honoris Causa por la Universidad de Oxford (Inglaterra), en 1907. Murió el 21 de abril de 1910 en Nueva York.

    You must check it out!

    Excelente como todo lo escrito por Mark Twain,este libro lo estube buscando por 35 anos y aqui lo encuentro, es una historia mitica que lo hace a uno reir en el sarcasmo usado y a su ves tambien pensar.
