    Two Worlds Collide~Chapter 7

"What happened?!" Inspector Szenku screamed. His eyes were narrowed to slits, spittle flying from his lips. "Did you tamper with the Qrycholorozinide? You must have!"<br>
I was in the white, boxy room again, lying in the chair, watching my Inspector yell.<br>
"Sir," l said with the most respect l could muster for a man who was gripping me by both arms and howling with rage, "l have never seen Qrycholorozinide, let alone know how to mess with it."<br>
Inspector Szenku slapped me across the face, leaving an angry red mark on one cheek. "Liar!" He snarled. He looked positively rabid now. I shrank down in the chair.<br>
"No one's messed with it," his assistant reminded him. "It was delivered in a padlocked box this morning, and it was under your eye the entire time."<br>
    "Then why did it happen?"<br>
I gulped. Why had Ois come? And l was just about as knowledgeable about the golden light as he was.<br>
The assistant shook his head. "I don't know. They could be side effects..."<br>
Inspector Szenku seemed to calm down a bit. "They aren't side effects. We tested them on seventy people!" <br>
    "What else could they be?"<br>
Szenku's face went pale and he started to tremble. "She could be-" he choked.<br>
I sat up immediately. "WHAT am l, lnspector? What?"<br> What was l that was so despicable he couldn't even say?<br>
"We don't have a precise name for it, but there are types of people who occur every so often that- that have powers no normal human has. When they are tested, they react differently. The only people useful to this country and any base, the Government says, are the ones with mental strength and the ones with physical strength. The ones with mental strength are used as teachers, scientists, writers, professors, journalists, engineers, and doctors. The ones with physical strength can be used as soldiers, guards, policemen, and others. But you are an emotional type. Instead of strategizing intelligent ways of getting out of the hole like a person with mental power, or trying to climb out of the hole like a person with physical power, you stayed. It's wired in your brain. People who know who you are will attempt to kill you."<br>
It took a full minute for the impact of these words to hit me. I felt as though l were incapable of breathing.<br>
"Those who cannot pass their test will not get a new name. I have no choice but to keep you as Asi. I'm sorry."<br>
Hot tears scalded my eyes. This was the moment l had been waiting for all my life. Now l was going to stay with the name that signified my childhood, my former me.<br>
"Is there any way l can get my-my...my name?" I asked in a falsely casual voice, as though not getting a new name was not disappointing at all.<br>
"You must go on a quest to find your name. You will know it when you find it."<br>
    "Inspector Szenku-"<br>
"Please leave now. Your test is over."<p>
I emerged from my cubicle, wondering later how l ever did it when all l wanted to do was run back to Inspector Szenku and yell, "You made a mistake! I can't be what you said l was!" Walking past the blonde woman, l ran down the carpeted steps and down the long way between the pews of the auditorium. I didn't stop until l reached the back alley of the school. It was then that l saw Ois. There were tear tracks down her cheeks and vomit on my blue shirt. She ran and grabbed me, sobbing into my shoulder. I knew we both had that same results. I had never been needed before like this by anyone. So all l could do was hug her back.
