For all the 5 stare reviews I was sorrily disappointed. First, the dialogue isn't realistic and sometimes doesn't seem to fit with how people actually talk. Second, the main character complains throughout the entire book and her attitude never changes Third, there was no character development. Fourth, I don't think the author proof-read her story or had an editor for all the mistakes there were. It was laughable how poor her grammatical skills were. Overall the story lacked depth and a climax... it just sort of ended. Lastly, I don't rightly know what age group this would fall under but it seemed a little elementary for a teen book too. Sorry, would not recommend.

Alexia Purdy Ever Shade A Dark Faerie Tale #1 I loved reading this book and managed to finish it within a day and a half, whilst still managing to somehow work! Shade slowly becomes a strong character, and having read Evangeline before this, I kept wondering if she was going to find out the truth about her family. I have no idea what else is in store for Shade, but can’t wait to find out. As mentioned in other reviews there are a few editing issues, but these in no way detract from the story.

What a GREAT Beginning to a Wonderful Series. Alexia Purdy has done it again with this Dark Faerie Tale. It's got EVERYTHING Anyone could want: Evil Queens, Witches, Faeries of ALL Kinds, Changelings that can Change into anything they want. It's Really AMAZING! This Storey Basically revolves around a girl named Shade that is Half Human/ Half Fae but she doesn't know she part fae at first. As her Adventure begins she and a group of Faeries of all kinds embark on a journey across many lands and waters to find something magical that only Shade can touch and bring back to the Good Faerie Queen. Through-out this journey Shade struggles with Who or What she is, and What kind of Magic lies with-in her. As they Venture across the Lands, Shade has many challenges and has to dig deep inside her self to find the way and as she realizes that it is only her that can save her self and the Faerie people!

poor execution. Abundant gramatical errors and missing or incorrect words. Reads like a first draft of something that could have been polished into a wonderful story. All the elements of a great adventure tale are present, but they just don't quite come together. I hope that the author continues to write and hone her craft, but I don't think I will be buying the next installment.

This was an interesting read. It started off a bit slow but picked up as the story progressed. The author created an interesting cast of characters that continued to develop as the story unfolded. Shade inadvertently meets a Teleen faery warrior who can control electricity. That chance meeting not only thrusts her into a world she knows nothing about but puts her on a dangerous mission to help the good Seelie Faerie Court. The author created a story with interesting twists and a few questions left unanswered. I will be looking forward to the next installment to see what will await Shade.

Right in the first paragraph a character is "self-diluted" instead of self-deluded. Don't think I can read any further being a grammar nerd.

Ever Shade (A Dark Faerie Tale, #1) by Alexia Purdy Shade is not the ordinary teen. One day she meets a young man who happens to be Teleen Faery Warrior. She is taken to a magical land, where she learns she has special powers. Together with her new friends, they are on a mission for the good Seelie Fairie Court They (Shade and friends) encounter many battles along the way. One being the Evil Unseelie Queen, who will stop at nothing to get her way. But Shade is not ready to give in, as she discovers who she really is and what she is capable of doing. A fantastic fantasy story. I love anything Fairie, the story line is original and I really liked Shade. The story is fast paced, easy to follow and an overall fun read. I recommend Ever Shade to Y/A as well as Adult readers who love a great fantasy story.

This is a very good read.  Shade is a normal teenage girl who finds out that she is half fey. She then has to go on a quest to save the Seelie fairy kingdom. She learns about the fairy world on her journey, and just how much she is linked to it.

Great story besides all of the editing errors. That is not the writer's fault, the publisher either needs to pay more for better editors or needs to get backup editors for the ones they have. Good job Alexia!

This book is a different look into the Faery worlds. As Shade begins her journey the reader heads out with her. Alexia Purdy did a great job in describing a fantasy Faery world. I can't wait til the next one! I'm totally hooked!!

I am an adult but found this book entertaining. However I believe that teens would enjoy the simplicity of it better than adults. Keep my interest but will not get the sequels.

I absolutely loved reading this book. Every time I had to put this book down for any reason, I absolutely dreaded it. The magic between Shade and Dylan was inevitably there and whn it happened, it was spark-tacular!!

Reading a book to review for authors can be difficult, because you want so badly to write something great about their artistry and hard work. Fortunately I get to say positive things about this story, but I have to admit for the first maybe 6 chapters I was worried. I felt the characters depth wasn't what it should be and the story was a little simple for a title like "A Dark Faerie Tale", but amazingly it took a turn and eventually sucked me into the story. I will without a doubt be sticking with the series, and I recommend this book with absolution. When you first start if you share my unease, just keep with it, you will be rewarded with a compelling and lovely story. Once you get used to the writing and characters around chapter 8 you get sucked into Shade's world and fall for all the different personalities you meet. I know for me the biggest twists and turns would have been the romance aspects. It felt a little rushed, but then again this is huge trial and tribulation for Shade and high emotions can create strong ones, so it was believable. Also the amount of potential suitors is a bit of a wonder, but still it added to the story nicely. Ever Shade will keep you guessing during the whole story and by the end you will wonder what is in store for this new and exciting series, and hopefully like me will continue on with it to watch it and the characters grow. Overall laddies and gents, if you are looking for love, mystery, magic and adventure then I absolutely recommend this for you. I hope you enjoy!
