It's August on Cape Cod and Willa has a lot to look forward to. Soon, JFK will return home from baseball camp, and Willa has an idea for an exciting new project that will challenge her to dream big! Editorial Reviews

VOYA - Sharon Blumberg
Willa, a girl of fourteen years, lives in an inn that her parents manage among quaint shops along the east coast of Cape Cod. Willa loves to read, and tirelessly spreads this passion around. She does this in the most unusual way. Imagine finding a book along the beach, and discovering it is a free gift as long as you pass this treasure on to someone else. Willa works diligently at her family's inn while juggling two romances during a particular summer. Her boyfriend, known as JFK, is away in Florida at a baseball internship. They correspond in a long distance relationship. This seems to be working for the time being. Then, Willa encounters unexpected romance from a local boy who plays in a band. Fate seems to connect their lives on repeated occasions. What can be more stressful for a girl at this age? Willa will have to figure out how to make this work, or she will have to choose. Willa also discovers new-found family members: a half-brother named Will from England and his loving dog, Salty. Will thinks he can prove the existence of their thought-to-be-deceased father. This is a fun, feel-good read for ages ten and up. It is imaginative and whimsical. This is a place where spotting a mermaid near the ocean is not an impossibility. It is the sixth title in The Life of Willa Havisham series. Reviewer: Sharon Blumberg
Children's Literature - Jody Little
14-year old Willa Havisham is spending her summer helping her mother's wedding-planning business, hanging out with her half-brother, missing her boyfriend, JFK, who is away for a summer baseball camp, and dreaming about an idea to make a difference in the world. As part of the series about Willa Havisham by the same author, this installment follows Willa through her daily life, meeting with friends, reading books, wondering about her boyfriend and the cute boy, Jess, who plays in a local band. Some sadness creeps into the story when it is revealed that Willa's beloved family friend, Mum, has breast cancer, but Willa uses the news to jump-start her new idea: the sharing of her treasured books to people around the world. Reminiscent of the "Anne of Green Gables" books, this novel is written in a day-in-the-life format and lacks a strong, overarching plot line. The book is wholesome reading, however, and fans of Willa's previous stories will not be disappointed. Reviewer: Jody Little

Gr 69—The latest installment in this series does not contain one driving story line. Instead, it mimics the unstructured summer of its teenage protagonist, Willa Havisham. Among other things, she helps out at her mother's Cape Cod B&B and plans a perfect wedding. She reads Greg Mortenson's Three Cups of Tea and is inspired to make the world a better place by leaving books in public places. She is confused about missing her boyfriend while being attracted to another boy. Her recently discovered half brother dashes off whenever he thinks he sees their presumably dead father. She is fond of her new stepfather, whom she calls "Dad" to his face but "Sam" to herself. Two (adult) friends develop breast cancer. Much exposition explains what happened in the previous books and why Willa cares about particular characters or situations. The church is central to her life and community. Some of this information is relevant to the current story, and some is not. Each chapter begins with a quotation about books and reading, and Willa mentions many books that she is reading and that have affected her. This and an appended booklist will send eager readers in many wonderful directions.—Amelia Jenkins, Juneau Public Library, AK
Kirkus Reviews

Crammed with incident, yet loose and rambling and without much dramatic arc, this slice-of-life novel, the sixth in the series, charts Willa's life, loves and personal growth though part of an event-filled summer.

There's something refreshing and rather fabulous about the slightly dull Willa Havisham books (Willa by Heart, 2008, etc.). They star the nicest, most well-adjusted, dependable 14-year-old in the world, a book-loving girl who does her chores in the family business with good grace, loves the nurturing, community-minded adults in her life and strives to be the best person she can be. She doesn't wear Jimmy Choos, obsess about her weight or, heaven forbid, smoke (anything); instead she tries to come up with a charitable project that's really her. Not to say there's no conflict. Willa wrestles with her feelings about her once-best friend, has minor disagreements with her driven businesswoman mother and is distressed (but also exhilarated) when she finds herself attracted to two boys at the same time. Set in a charming, fictional Cape Cod community, the story strolls along, never generating a great deal of heat or suspense, yet managing to keep readers involved and interested.

Lovers of hip, edgy or meta should look elsewhere, but this story carries its own brand of modest delight for the right reader. (Fiction. 10-15)

In fourth grade, I picked up the titles: 'The wedding Planner's Daughter' and 'the cupid chronicles' The first time I opened those books, It felt magical and I was hooked instantly! I have bought every one of the wedding planner's daughter books off of barnes and noble and can't wait for this book to come out! I've already got it pre-ordered. When I read these books, I get connected to willa, and understand all the problems she is going through.
