Andrea Pickens created her first book at the age of five—a neatly penciled story about cowboys—however she has since moved on from Westerns to writing about Regency England, a time and place that has captured her imagination ever since she opened the covers of Pride and Prejudice.

With her diplomat father away on a mission, Lady Caroline Talcott must deliver vital government documents to London. But when her carriage is attacked, she is injured and forced to flee on foot. Her only option: hire her rescuer—the infamous Earl of Davenport—to escort her to Town while keeping her identity a secret.
Impoverished, Davenport agrees to being hired by the mysterious lady and quickly discovers the headstrong hellion will make him earn his wages.
As the pair are pursued across England by a cunning enemy, fiery clashes turn into mutual respect... quickly followed by the greatest danger of all.

The story is excellent. The only annoying thing is how badly the editing is done. In fact I don't think anyone even read it before posting it as an ebook. Many sentences don't make sense at all because of wrong or missing words. It is a great story and I highly recommend it regardless. It's just annoying to pay for somethinng that is damaged.
The Hired Hero is an excellent book. I advise anyone to read it. It is highly suspenseful and the main characters are well developed. Andrea Pickens is one of the best regency authors.
I have read the first two books in this series. Both were a very relaxing way to pass a few hours. The characters and plots were not connected as is the case in many serial novels. I find that nice, because then you don't feel obligated to purchase all of them just to complete a story line.
I loved this book. The characters are great. It is a little short but everything is there, romance, suspense and a happy ending. This is the 2nd book in a row by this writer & I am ready for the next. GJRA
