This is the second book in The Arthurian Trilogy and again, I am

This is the second book in The Arthurian Trilogy and again, I am not disappointed. Stewart knows how to weave a well known legend, and make an enchanting tale all her own. Her Merlin, King Arthur, and other known names are brought believably life within the pages of her story. The first book is The Crystal Cave by Mary Stewart. A must read for any one who likes to read about Camelot and the people who inhabited it.

    Lovelovelove these books!!

I have read all three in the trilogy many times over the last 30 years, and they never get old. I believe in Merlin and Arthur because of Mary Stewart. But I have to say, the most magical chapter of all is in The Hollow Hills, when Arthur fulfills his destiny. The entire series is worth that one glorious chapter. Read all the books. They are truly "enchanting."

    Excellent!

Trilogies are in style, but no one does it better than Mary Stewart. This book is great, I highly recommend it. It's about Merlin, with Arthur as a secondary character, but the reader is reminded why he gave the name to the legend.

    Some light on the shadow

So far, I have read the Hollow Hills six times, and am in the process of reading the Crystal Caves. This one though is amazing. The pain that is felt by Merlin is wrenching, but the story has a surprising grace to counter the dark mood. Most other portrails of Merlin have personified him as a dark, evil enigma lurking in Arthur's shadow, but now that shadow has been lightned and has a face and a soul.

Enchanting and mesmerizing tale...Don't Miss This One!

Merlinus Ambrosius, gifted physician and enchanter is vividly brought to life in this historical fiction by Mary Stewart. The gift of this book is how Stewart 'humanizes' all of the characters, she literally brings them to life right before our eyes and the results are unforgettable. This is a painstakingly detailed account of the pre Camelot legend from Merlin's prospective. There is no better telling of the rise of King Arthur, and you will have chills when you read Stewart's account of the how he pulled the sword from the stone. It's as if you are right there in the midst of the action. The entire book is mesmerizing! Every page is drenched in imagery and descriptive detail. Mary Stewart has a very sharp pen, and a strong command of the english language. She tells a fascinating and beautiful tale. Don't miss this one. Four stars because it moves slow, but is well worth your time. Cris

can`t wait for the next chronicle !

great book . it really brings you into the pre-Arthur period. wonderful for anyone who wants to look at the legends in a whole new light , through the eyes of Merlin . a bit nerve-wracking due to the fact that you KNOW the next part of the story is way more interesting .great read anyhow .
