Three twelve- and thirteen- year old girls who seemingly have nothing in common, other than their crazy obsession for horses, have formed a group called The Saddle Club. The members are Lisa, the ambitious brainy one; Stevie, who is the opposite type of student and always looking for some mischievous fun to get into; and Carole, the somewhat absentminded yet accomplished rider. In this slim book, the girls are preparing for a gymkhana, where teams of riders compete in games against one another on horseback. They are looking for a fourth member for their club and believe they have found her in Kate. But why did Kate choose not to divulge the fact that she is a championship rider upfront? Horse enthusiasts will enjoy the animal scenes, and other readers will enjoy the great friendships the girls have. A little boyfriend side story is included too.     Stevie, Carole, and Lisa are ready and excited for the upcoming gymkhana, a three-day event full of relays and games and fun - all on horseback, of course. The girls need a fourth team member, and surprisingly, Stevie's brother, Chad, fills in. Chad is not the most experienced rider, but he's entertaining, and they soon discover that he has a crush on one of them.

    Carole also meets Kate Devine, a championship rider who is introduced in this book and later becomes a main character in the series. The girls think Kate would be the perfect fourth member to the Saddle Club, but unfortunately Kate has sworn off riding ever again.

    HORSE POWER is the fourth book in THE SADDLE CLUB series, and it continues to be relatable and fun for the intended age group. With each book, readers get more and more attached to Stevie, Carole, and Lisa, while also being introduced to new characters, so it's a good thing the series is so long!

    An awesome book!!!

    I think this is a great book because it deals with real issues in life. Any girl or boy who loves horses should read this and the series of The Saddle Club.

    chad,stevies brother has a crush on lisa.he goes to the stables just to get close to her. lisa doesnt know about chad.What will happen when she does know?Read it and find out!!

    A great book about friendship!
