Overview

Chris Jackson has secrets.

A wildly popular author of suspense novels, Chris hides away in the tiny town of Pyrite, Missouri, where she lives in a converted storefront and practices breaking-and-entering on local businesses.

Most of the citizens of Pyrite happily claim Chris as their very own celebrity. But the new police chief, Al MacNamara isn't one of them. Recently transplanted from the mean streets of Chicago, Mac hates mysteries. And Chris Jackson is a mystery.

Then, the murders begin. Murders that look suspiciously like those in Chris's books. Murders that escalate to a grisly stabbing that exactly mimicks a story no one has read except Chris, herself.

With MacNamara's help, Chris is forced to delve into the dark recesses of her past for answers. Is a madman stalking Chris? Or is Chris right to question her own sanity? Could she be committing the murders herself?

    HIghly Recommended

Bestselling author Chris Jackson is perfectly happy with her quiet life. After all, what's not to like? Her next door neighbor is an unemployed ventriloquist, her literary agent is a kleptomaniac, and her house is only six blocks from the Mobile Home Hall of Fame. If she ever needs a getaway, she's got a Harley.

Then the murders start. Murders taken form the pages of her own books. Murders that threaten her sanity, maybe her very life. And she has only a burned-out ex-Chicago cop to help her...

Humor, suspense and a gritty murder mystery--I loved this book. Chris Jackson is quirky and likable.

Pretty awesome if you like suspense. Chris Jackson is an author

Pretty awesome if you like suspense.
Chris Jackson is an author who writes thrillers. Her childhood was awful but she has found a town that has become her home and family. She still has problems dealing with the impact of her background and they only become worse when a detective from a St. Louis contacts her about murders that are patterned after her books. The new chief of police is facing demons of his owns and recognizes them in Chris. He is experience, supportive, and a little hot. There are several pretty good twists to this one. There were also touches of humor to balance the terror hanging over her. I need that balance.

I would love to see a sequel but I don't expect. Will be trying more by this author.
