I'm so happy that I bought and read this short story! It's a great tale of lost childhood innocence and how the power of belief in anything can get oneself through the roughest of times.

This is a great little story to give you a little glimpse into the Word and the Void series. I really enjoyed revisiting the park, Pick and Daniel.

This story is the basis of one of Terry Brook's most memorable characters that has always stuck with me since I first met him. The story starts out well but seems to have been finished in a hurry. Fortunately, this concept was later expanded upon and became a major plot in a later book. I would still recommend purchasing this title as it demonstrates a writer in progress and more importantly as its purchase raises money for someone in need

This book is a quick read, and a great place to start if you're
planning on reading the whole shannara series from start to finish.

This is a good short story about children's imagination. I look forward to reading the Word/Void series.

Not as well developed as Running with the Demon but interesting to see where the ideas started.

Overview
In 1997, New York Times bestselling author Terry Brooks reinvented the fantasy genre again, publishing the contemporary fantasy masterpiece RUNNING WITH THE DEMON, the first book in a trilogy of novels that would become known as the Word/Void series. But in 1991, six years before RUNNING WITH THE DEMON, Terry Brooks began testing the mythos found in Word/Void and wrote a tale titled IMAGINARY FRIENDS, a short story published in the Lester del Rey anthology ONCE UPON A TIME!
